I hear ya. I almost came over the counter on a little twerp that refused to give me my coffee when I order a "medium black coffee". He said it was a "venti bla bla bla". I told him "look punk, it's 6:00 am and I'm at the damn grocery store. I want to be here as much as I would want a kick in the giggle berries. You'd better hand me that coffee so no one gets hurt..." Back to the beater, you have almost as many miles on it as I have on my green car in the 4 years since the resto. I feel highly inadequate....
I’m not a Fourbucks type either. I’ll ask for black coffee and their clerk (I’m not playing their ‘barista/venti/grande’ game) will begrudgingly serve it. Thirty minutes later it’s cool enough to sip! Patrick
Thred drift coming on... I'd never pay $4.00 for a cup of bitter diarrhea juice when crack arnolds is 4 blocks away AND at the boat yard entrance. They know its me too; 12 creams, 13 sugars and stir it 14 times... I always ask too! ws
I go to star bucks and get a medium coffee with added shot. Its only gone up 10 cents in 4 yrs. If you go to the ones in Barnes and Nobles stores they seem cooler
The odometer has now turned 3700 miles as of the other day. My post about 2100 miles above was back in July. So roughly 8 months later, though fall and winter I managed to put another 1600 miles on her. Hopefully, if the weather holds out, Im going to take it to the Sunday morning cars and coffee gathering at the Captree boat basin.
2018, I may have logged 100 miles. Didn’t get any track time. Golf got in the way. Made upgrades on the Street Sleeper for 11’s. With my current projection for 2019, my local track pussied up and went 1/8 mile so no longer driving to track to run there. I Bought a GMC Canyon Denali truck to trailer the little queen to tracking this year so maybe 1 trip or 2 if lucky. F.me. If I really make the effort,I might get 300 miles on the road in 2019 tearing up and back to the grocery store and golf course.
One item I got for the car a year or so ago was one of Mike Trom's awesome window stickers. He does such a great job with these. If you don't have one for your car, get one. But the window sticker didn't match the car. It was literally too nice! So I wound up finding a guy on Ebay that does period aged Oldsmobile window stickers. The examples he showed looked really good. He offered two styles- "period aged" and "heavy relic". The heavy relic sounded like what I was after. I emailed him and asked if he could do Buick stickers. He said he didn't but was open to the idea of doing one and aging it for me. I put it next to Mike's to show the difference. I think it fits the condition of the car better.
What does he do, roll it up in his sock for a week. Why would u want fake aged window sticker. Shouldnt the print be faded.?
LOL . You didnt LOL. Thats refreshing to see. Just dont LMAO me. It took my awhile before I figured that one out.
Nice thread. I have to add my comment on the grocery getter thing. I use my car to get some groceries as well. It's just so much fun diving into a large parking lot with that old car... some people look at it like it is an alien while other really enjoy it. It's actually fun to annoy some people with the exhaust fumes alone haha But I would fix the rusty parts but otherwise leave it like it is
why is this car parked so far from the store . there's a closer spot, right down there by the shopping carts.
