Dang Ronnie, that bad boy is straight! And I'm glad to see you wearing a hat to cover up that nail in your head.
Thanks for all that information John, i will keep my eyes open for a 401 or 425, but with a thm400.. i might be sitting on a variable pitch th400 but i have to investigate more.
Originally it came with a 401/DynaFlow. At the least you will need a '64-'66 Riv. or '65 full size car (X-Frame) cross-member. Also the yoke on the driveshafts are diff. between a DynaFlow & a 400. Length MAY be the same. The early yokes '64-'67 in good used condition are HARD to come by. If you changed out the rear tail of the trans. to a '68 & up those yokes are available new. ALL it takes is to swap the tail-housing for the larger available yoke. Then you have the problem of the shift quadrant. Right now it reads P-N-D-L-R. The 400 reads P-R-N-D-L for '64 or P-R-N-D-L2-L1 for '65&'66. The easiest & least costly route is to find a '62-'63 401 or '63 425 with a DynaFlow trans. IF using a '59-'61 401 (or even a '57-'61 364) would need a center sump pan & matching oil pick-up. Not as easy as one would think. Tom T.
Two new editions to your family, Ronnie. The most important one is a cute little guy. The other looks like a very solid start to a cool ride. It'll be cool to watch as they both progress.
Cool car; and it's got A/C too. Your easiest and cheapest bet would be to drop in another 401 with a Twin Turbine Dynaflow from 1959-1963. It would be a direct bolt up, no fussing and fooling around. They weren't bad, and unless you intend to run 1/4 races the 0-60 times are marginally different and the fuel economy slightly worse with the dynaflow. Dynaflows are robust transmissions, the 401 is well suited to it, and with a 4 barrel, that car will be more than "adequate" (to quote Rolls-Royce).
Thanks for everyone advice, congratulations and opinions. Here are some pictures of the engine bay to help you answer the question " what would I do if it was my wagon" Battery tray is on the drivers side
Yesterday i layed down the 2nd row seats and it looks real nice, so much space.. i dont have the 3rd row, seems as if it was ordered with out it, instead its for storage. More pictures when i get home
That little kitten in the second picture knows what's right; he knows there should be a "Wildcat 445" (401) in there and he's looking for it!
Already a "Wildcat" under the hood. A rusty parts car with everything that you need may be the most economical way to go. All the A/C parts, a drivetrain, etc. would all be there.
