So I found locally on Craigslist a 1955 Buick Century 4 door with a 322 Nailhead and only 51,567 original miles. Car purs and drives great. Has a dyna 2 speed auto trans. Guy tried to paint it himself so it's not very good and will need to be redone. Instead of re-chroming the bumpers he painted them so there is another project too. Where can I find parts for this car? Looked everywhere and can't find anything. Needs new suspension but would like to drop it 1.5 - 2". Needs all new rubber around the windows too. Can any of you help with this as far as who carry's what or where to get this stuff? It has the old tube radio and the original washer bottle which is a jar with a screw lid on it which you can see in one of the photos. Anyone know what this car should be worth as it sits?
No source from me on parts, but I like the color and the painted bumpers. That's almost the same color I'm putting on my Skylark (slowly, lots of overtime and hot days in the sun when I can't paint).
For my parts, I went to; SMS fabrics http://www.smsautofabrics.com/ Steele Rubber https://secure.steelerubber.com/search_frameset.php Kanter Auto http://www.kanter.com///index.aspx?...t=1400&Sb=0&Vdr=&Itm=&MDv=1&MDpt=0&MSb=0&Prc= CARS inc old Buick Parts http://www.oldbuickparts.com/catalog/up-to-1960-buick-c-76.html NAPA http://www.napaonline.com/ And right here on the board, parts for sale and parts wanted. Especially, V8Buick member Chris Roesch. Ebay and the old fashioned way, scrounging through junkyards. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Nice Score!! The original color under the trunk looks to be the same as mine. "Colonial Blue' paint code 'F' (check the fire wall tag on the far passenger side, up on the horizontal surface near the windshield The washer bottle mounts where your brake master cylinder is now . As far as worth; it's worth what someone is willing to pay you.
Looks like a nice cruiser. From the pictures it seems pretty solid. Nothing beats a ton of chrome from the fifties IMHO so the painted bumpers dont really do it for me. I cant help you source parts but as far as value, below is a link to a low milage 2 door. As Im sure you know, 2 door most always command a little more money in every situation. Not much of a market for old 4 door Buicks. But I enjoy my 4 door Wildcat as much as any 2 door Ive ever owned. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?122248-1955-Buick-Century
Love the blue and white interior of this Buick, including the white steering wheel and two-tone dash. We all have an opinion, but why anyone would paint and cover up the chrome of any 40s or 50s car (but especially a 50s Buick) is beyond me. I've found some parts from Cars Inc. for my 55 Special. You'll need to just keep nosing around and do some research. You could also check with local vintage repair shops and see who they go to for parts. Also, classicbuicks.com buickfarm.com Looks like it has good bones. The color looks like Nevada Blue. (state color). It's not a good color in the rear view mirror. If you ever get pulled over by the Nevada Highway Patrol you will see what I mean.
I just bought this from the person who you sold it to last year. She's on the road again, just wanted to update you on your old car. Have a safe weekend. :TU:
