Well my Wildcat Perfomance Engines 455 has arrived from Georgia today and it is on my stand. 72 block and heads. Fully balanced, blueprinted and dynoed by a truly awesome shop. All this done correctly by very experinced BBB builder that came with a warranty.:TU: :beers2: :Brow:
Anyone want to take a guess what my 71 would run 1/4 mile at with this motor, th400, 2500 stall, 3:42 rear stock heavy duty suspension, full weight 71 skylark? It was not built for the track but I am curious.
Your engine is beautiful! Keep us informed of your progress. Please post pictures of your build, as you go. Good luck. Regards, John.:TU:
Very nice looking engine it'll be a killer with the rest of your drivetrain on the streets.Looks to me like a great plan coming to fruition, good job!:3gears:
I input what you had into my Virtual Dyno program. I guessed that you had 2.13/1.85 valves, 202 intake volume (runner + chamber). 3500lb car and 200lb driver. The program gives 454hp@5250rpm and 518trq@3750, darn close to your numbers. It estimates a best 1/4mi of 12.32 @ 109mph. I can re-run if you want me to change some numbers.
I looking to put on BFGs 275 60 R15's in the rear for some bite and the look. Any thoughts or other suggestions? Just have some cheaper 225 on there now.
Thanks Hector. Hopefully the install goes smoooothlyray: and plan is complete Like the famous A-Team quote "I love it when a plan comes together"
Hey Cool program! Where did you get it? Is it easy to run? Would be nice to get for my brother. Thanks, Mike
Well were getting closer with the install. I want to see what you guys reccomend for tire rear tire size. I am thinking 275 60 R15 or should I go 275 50 R15? Now with the above mentioned build I will be running a cruise-able 3:23 rear end. Maybe I should of poste this question elsewhere but I'll try it hear.
Doesn't matter what tire you use now, it will spin and spin good even with a larger tire. Just get a tire that looks correct but have an extra set of sticky 275 50 15s for the track, it will keep the ratio low for a good launch. Nice combo though, it should grunt with the best of them! :3gears: Steve
kick71 (since your name wasn't included) Congrats on the new power plant!! I'll bet you are smiling like the cheshire cat... I have a motor being built at AM&P and I can't wait to replace my all stock, factory 400 (113K miles) with the new bullet. Of course, the numbers matching 400 will be waiting on an engine stand if I ever need to sell her (yeah right). Watch your temperature with the added HP!! More HP more TEMP ..simple physics.
Your reading my mind. I have a new 4 core Radiator for the car and will be ordering a trany cooler. I'm not going with an aluminum radiator since I am hoping the 4 core will be enough Any suggestions on nice fair priced trany coolers?? Thanks, Mike
Any guesses as to what hp will be put to the pavement considering the dyno results? Above all going through a th400 stock drive shaft 3:23 rear. Anyone use a custom lighter drive shaft? Worth the expense? any more performance? Maybe over kill but curious. Hope to have all done for Englishtown coming up in a few weeks. look forward to meeting some new Buick friends. Mike
