Short block is assembled as of this moment. Hopefully get the heads on tonight and be ready to drop in. I'll keep you guys that are interested posted. Got hung up when I had to switch blocks, second block needed a sleeve, then when I got it back every time I tightened the mains the crank refused to turn. So pulled it all back down and got it line honed. When they did that, they screwed up the cam bearings. So I ordered new ones and installed them myself, which was a first for me. Piece of cake with an installer if you take your time, which I didn't and effed up the number 5, so luckily found another spare number 5 at the original machine shop that screwed it up in the first place. Never ending love story.......
I'm hoping so....was running 14s before which is enough for most cars driving around. Hoping low 13s and still driveable every day, rain, shine, or snow plus able to tow my camper
I figure it has to be chock full of ethanol. Maybe they got some e85 on accident. Like I said, my lawnmower doesn't even like it. Flushing the entire fuel system and putting in some of my Mach 1's avgas mix to cover my anus.....can I say anus?
Havent been able to even drive my number 1 girl because the truck has it blocked in the garage for almost 2 months now.....
Windage tray, pan, water pump on last night. Finished painting the block and parts from cleaning for gaskets and grinding some block casting off. I like all the corners and edges of my blocks smooth. I use my barrel carbide. Looks good and less worries of getting a cut from slipping on or breaking a bolt later. Bolted on the Promaxx heads tonight Bought about $50 in hardened washers trying to find some to fit the head recesses. Finally just took the smallest 20 and did the hillbilly washer/loose bolt/gloves/grinder trick and turned them down. Had to chamfer the dowel holes with a porting cone, but they're on and torqued. Beautiful night to work in the driveway out of the garage. Now inside looking at the Riv and Mach 1 enjoying a bud light platinum cuz I'm feeling classy......

She's a runner. Had a little leakage issue with the Mr. Gasket el cheapo fuel line I got for Del's 750 so had to break it in on the old 600 Edelbrock at about 5:30 pm yesterday. Was going to move it over into the garage and run exhaust hoses out to try to keep the noise down but it's still plenty early and doesn't get dark till 9 here so said screw it. I think I had every neighbor from 2 blocks around come driving by to see what was making all the racket and burning paint and assembly lube smoke for 15 minutes at 2500 rpm. Not a cool move, but they're mostly understanding. I even gave the 2 I really like a warning beforehand. Got the thumbs up. No leaks, great oil pressure, middle of the temp gauge. Had a little scare after first run around the block. After parking it and letting it cool, attempted to turn it over. Uh oh. It turns slow. I mean super slow. Try to talk myself into it'll be fine mode. Haven't driven the mustang since the truck broke down, what, 2 months ago? Figure I'd unwind so I back it out and wash it. Take a shower because I was still covered in filth from dropping a shiny new engine in a 45 year old beater since 5 a.m. Take the Mach 1 to the next little town over. Remember what 552 cubic inches feels like and have a couple beers. Head home and hit the hay. Can't sleep all night worrying about the F100. Wake up at 5 again and head out to check things over and change the oil again. Oil looks fantastic. Figure I'll have mercy on my neighbors and try not to start it till I head to work at 6:30. Hook it to the 40 amp charger for the 35 minutes or so I've got left, say a little prayer, take a shower, head out, and it pops right off. Idles like a Swiss watch with a really lumpy cam. Must've either heat soaked the starter or the battery was just weak from sitting. Very nice. Shut it off, lock up the house, fires right off again, and away we go. Ran flawless all day. Not a bad Monday. Haven't gotten on it, obviously, but you can tell it wants to go. Excited to see what it'll feel like with the big carb and full throttle. (Yes I need to cut the carb stud and route the wires better. Going to get an old style accel super stock coil and mount it to the firewall first.)
No matter how much hp your think it has, add 10 because of the yellow spark plug wires.. Looking good
You just wait for the Super Stock coil . Was going to stack two paper filters for the real racy retro look but a buddy gave me this cotton type for free.
Chopper and I are taking back the borrowed cherry picker. Kinda cool the beater gets to haul what put in its new heart.
