I'm going to have some nailhead kickdown switch support brackets fabricated because I need one for my car. These are used on cars with the factory dual-quad set-up. I don't what it's gonna cost, but what else do you do when you have a car to put together. I expect to make less than 10 of these. Does anybody else need one?
Yes, I need one also. I have a CAD drawing 3/4 finished that I could finish if that would help. I was planning on laying out a flat part to cut and bend per original. Some (angled) bend lines would have to be welded, filled, and painted. I have a lot going on so I just never finished it. I could try to get that drawing done if you have means of fabrication.
A few years ago Ray Elkins made some of the best repopped 64 2x4 switches I have ever seen, very close to the original and hard to tell from OEM. I've seen several made from sheet steel that were cut and folded to be work but not be original looking. I haven't seen or heard about Ray for a few years now. Good luck with the repopps. Larry
I got an email my friend last night. He found his template for the bracket, so he will have some made. I see him on Thursday and I'll have more info on time frame, cost, and his contact info.
The kickdown bracket is much easier to make thatn the rear AC bracket. There is a repopped ac bracket on ebay that doesn't look as thick as the OEM one. Larry
I purchased one of the repro ac brackets from ebay ID classic_specialties, it is thinner than the original, but it works. I also think that all '66 A/C brackets will fit over the aluminum valve covers. I'm not sure, but that's what I was told. You may want to contact Darwin Falk, the 66 Riviera, tech advisor. I have 6 left . Post your email address if you are interested and I will send you a pic. and details. Thanks , Dick
