You may want to try a different color. Blue clashes with the paint on your truck.

I have a 55 GMC pickup that I will be ratrodding, will be getting a 425 with a 3 duece intake and either a 4 speed or switch pitch. Very interested on all the clearances for exhaust and steering etc. Keep us updated.

The red base plates are a nice touch. And, the red throats

I have a problem with the scoops. The set screw on them is to high to catch the neck of the carb. I have 2g carbs and the screw is about 3/16" to high. Does anyone have some kind of remedy for this.

Drill and tap a screw hole down lower where you need it.

It could be too low. I was just told to try this solution. Take a piece of 3" pipe and section it enough to wrap around the carb throat with a clamp. Then drill and tap the piece of pipe. Does this sound like a good fix?

If I understand the situation correctly and the scoops are alluminum,,,, you could take a sheet of wet or dry sandpaper and on a flat surface like a piece of plate glass or a table top , you could ''mill'' enough off the bottom of the scoops to make the screw catch the carb flange....

That is sanding off like a 1/8" and it would leave 1/16" from the bottom of the set screw to the base of the scoop.
