I was looking for another movie that wrecked a boat tail (‘Go!’) and found this site. It’s interesting how often they appeared in Clint Eastwood movies-maybe just the times and places. All hail the ‘Oldsmobuick’! https://www.buick-riviera.com/movies.html
No that is not it. Most Motorheads can spot the camaro swap. I read that they actually used a 383 Auto Challenger to pull the Camaro to it's death. OK I'll give a hint think about geography? Tim
Trick question Capt Bill! The one they wrecked looks to have the unmistakable shape of a Turbo 400 in it. I doubt that was the "hero car" though. They used the Two Lane Blacktop 55 in American Grafitti. And the TLB car most definitely had a 22 in it. You can actually hear the whine when Taylor goes through the gears Its been years since I saw TLB; just seems weird that they'd roll a '55 that was built as far as a 400T only to crash it. I guess Ill hafta pay better attention to it! ws

The 55 in TLB has plexiglass side windows with no vents and what appears to be cut out rear fenderwells among a few other things. Hmmm. No record on IMDB about it either. More research needed... ws
That doesn't look like the same car. Here's a better shot of the TLB '55........ But then there's this...
