Narrowing a 8.5" rear

    That makes sense. The earlier 66 cars,that were built in late-65,could have gotten what was left over from the narrower rears.By the beginning of the 1966 year,the narrower ones would have been used up,and the wider ones phased in,which would have started shown here up soon after.I'd say by February/March the BOP's all had the wide ones. Chevy was a little more mentally challenged.

    Hey... I am a Chevy guy... LOL ...
    I know i am challenged too.

    Truck is still Fed up so I am really not backing Chubby like I use to. 2014 truck never went straight from day one HAD to Lemon law the beast and still have a truck with steering drift issues.
    Ate a set of front tires at 3000 miles . .. 8 alignments 3-4 different places / dealerships. NO ONE has figured this out. :( Sad

    Gonna trade it in 2 years on this is enough.

    I definitely don't like my 04 HD like I did my 02 HD. They couldn't be more opposite.
    As for the rears,I usually tell people that they can just measure between the backing plates. The wider rears are 54 1/2" between the plates,and the narrower rears are 52 1/4" between the plates.
