Hi, Hoping somebody might have a 1970 SR 455 lying around.I have a 1970 GS455 conv. but has a 1971 GS motor in it. Would love to have the correct year engine. Thanks, Gary C
There is no real difference in the blocks! Cast number in back of block may be the same on some earlier 71's and 70's. If you mill the block all letters will be gone anyway. Just restamp whatever you want on it. Just be honest when you resell it. 71 blocks are often better anyway as they usually have the big oil passage.
Also Gary, do you need a 70 intake manifold. I have an extra. Also has a nice replated choke therm on it just missing rod.
455 engine Dave, I thought about that, but isn't there #'s on the front also behind the power steering pump? Gary
Gary I have a complete 1970 S R engine less intake and carb ( has offy aluminum and eldebrock carb) and numbers matching B A trans . I am in St Louis Mo. Not sure where you are and shipping engines is very costly . Std bore was pulled from rusty 70 and went into my convert . The engine devleoped a knock and was pulled while still running . I have not torn it down to see ewhat was ewrong but a head was pulled when I bought it . 1250.00 for both the trans was rebuilt and has aprox 3000 miles . John
Gary My intake is a 70 if you want it. My mother would love me to come over and get rid of it. $50 plus shipping will take it but I think shipping will be expensive as the thing weighs about 40 lbs. Also not to kill Stage70's engine sale but check with him as 70 VIN is usually stamped under #1 and 3 spark plugs and will be visible where 71 VIN is hidden
Intake manifold Dave, I will take it. I see you are from Mass. I can pick it up if you don't mind. I live in southern NH. I'll double check the #'s for that engine. I'll send you a PM. Thanks, Gary
Yes I guess you would have to laugh at that  When I typed it it sounded right . Now it is not running on the engine stand just in case you thought it might still be idiling in the garage . This is a original S R engine and has the VIN Stamped on the block between the 1 and 3 spark plug and the S R between the 5 and 7
Whatta ya gonna do with the 71 motor when you drop in the correct unit? Looking for a strong runner to replace the motor I just lost in my 69 GS. (wasn't matching #s to start with)
