What year posi units will work in this thing, and was the same 9 3/8 rear used in the 65 Wildcats and other buicks? Info please. I need help.

The "pumpkin" is interchangable with 63 thru 65 Wildcats, Electras, Rivs. The Rivs have a unique pinion flange that is different from the Wildcats and Electras. Just need to use the Riv flange on the posi (from a Wildcat or Electra) if you can find one. You may want to use your gears with a new posi, I thinks the 65 stock rear end was a 3.23:1, a very nice ratio for the low end power of the Nailhead. :beer

I believe I have a pinion flange from a Rivi on my 3.42 that I would be willing to trade for a regular yoke if you find a rear on a Cat or Electra.

There's a member here, KennyBill, who might have what you're looking for. He's an Oldmobile guy, but has some Buick parts. He's located near Youngstown, Ohio.

I bought a complete rear from him several months ago and he also had a 9 3/8" diff with all the bearings for sale. I believe it was 3:08 ratio out of a Riveria. This is just the diff with gears and bearings; the internals, not a complete rear. If your housing is still good, someone could swap out the parts for you.

KennyBill is not on the board all the time, but you should contact him to see if he still has the parts. Good Luck!
