The black seatbelts in my car appear to be incorrect (except the shoulder ones) and I don't know what the original bucket seat set-up belts, buckles, (to accept the shoulder belts) and retractors should look like.

Anyone have them for sale, a line on replacements, NOS ones, or some photos of theirs so I can hunt these down or have Ssnake-Oyl Products manufacture them for me?

    Thanks for any info,

    Joe Ferrante

All standard black seatbelts for 71 should have the large black buckles(all same size) with the blue GM insignia. Custom seat belts were interior color with the Fisher carriage logo.

If car has shoulder belts I believe that is rare option!

    71 GS Seat Belts

    Dave,

Thanks for the info. I wonder how the shoulder belt (separate from the lap belt and held up with a "paper-clip) attached to the lap belt?

Anyone with some pics or thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Joe Ferrante

Shoulder belts used a seperate buckle.
So...you had two buckles...one for the lap belt and one for the shoulder belt.

I never saw a '71 hardtop that didn't have shoulder belts.

71 Seat belt pics and of console

    George,

Here are the photos of my seatbelts. Hope you can help.

Also, the console is a bit pitted and will need re-doing. Anyone that can recommend a good plater? Also, there's a console on Ebay from a '70. Would it fit a '71?

    Thanks,

    Joe Ferrante

Your front seat belts are from a much newer/later model car. You will need to get a new/restored older set-up. Your shoulder belts(in the headliner clips) are correct. Send a pic of the rear seat belts...maybe someone replaced them too.

Your console doesn't look to bad.....remember it is 35+ years old.
If you get it replated....you will lose the definition(crispness of the PRNDL) lettering. All the 70-2 consoles are the same.

    71 GS Seat belts

    George,

The rears are also the same as the front belts. If I have to, I'll use Ssnake Oyl Products to make all new ones for me.

Good to know the consoles for 70-72 are the same.

    Thsnks,

George and Joe, I have found that the top plate on the 73-74 console is also the same as 70-72 even though the console is slightly different. This opens up for more possible finds anyway.

the 73-74 console has to be trimmed to fit in the 70-72 cars.
