I am building a 70 gs 350 with ported heads GS114 cam 2000stall 342 gears TA intake and a Qjet. what do you think it will run it will be in a 72 skylark. hoping to get into the 13's
That sounds like a good possibility. Are you also going to be running headers and a good mandrel ben exhaust system?
My handy dandy spreadsheet says you need to be putting down about 275 horses at the wheels for a 3550Lb car. - Freed
Unless he's lightened it a good deal, he's probably closer to the 3800 - 4000 lb range. As an example, I got 274 rwhp out of my 71 GS455. It was consistently a mid 13 second car. That's pretty close to sea level track.
OK. A 3900# car putting down 300HP at the wheels should run a 13.696 @ 100, all things being equal. - Freed
That sounds pretty similar to where I was. I was probably closer to the 350 range and around 4000 lbs. Best was a 13.43. Best mph (different run) was 101.XX I think he can see solid 13's with his setup.
I hate to bump in on this thread, but since we're talking weights and all, would anyone happen to know the approximate weight of a '68 Skylark Convertible 350 with all the heavy pieces? What's the non-convertible weigh, too? Jacob
