This is a dumb request, but I have 2 .pub documents that I can't open b/c I don't have this program. If I email them to you, would someone be willing to open these and convert them to another format then send them back to me ? Thanks............ou:
I can probably do that for you, but leaving for Salem in the morning, and if the laptop works at the hotel, I can convert to word for ya. Email me the files, If I have time before we leave tomorrow, I might be able to do it then, RV Email
Did you try opening them with notepad and then saving them as (all files) .html? (I'm assuming they're web page files?)
Email them to me and I'll see if I can save them as html. You can't just rename them because the files are embedded. Hopefully they are the same version as mine Publisher 98.....If I can convert them I will zip them up and send them back. I am leaving today sometime for Salem.....probably tonight, since it's raining right now. mike@fourguysauto.com Mike
Mike, you've got mail..........thanks! I tried that notepad thing, but I am not computer savvy enough to make it work. Why don't they just make everything a .gif file anyway? o No:
I tried to open them with Publisher 98....... no go! The files must be in a new format that my old software won't open. I can see the little preview of them......but can't open to edit them. I even tried to put them in notepad and change the version number from 3.0 to 2.0 and they still wouldn't open. Sorry...... Anyone have publisher 2000 or above? Mike
i believe i have publisher xp on a cd around here somewhere just for cases like this.. lol... i'll get back to ya if i can find it and get my desktop working... power went out and destroyed a key file to windows XP... good thing my new powerbook doesn't ever have any problems.. now i gotta figure out how to grab my doom 3 saved games before i format... grrrr...
Thanks for trying, Mike. They aren't super important anyway, it was just a flyer for a super cruise that's going on tomorrow night. I appreciate your try. :bglasses:
oh shoot, you didn't say they were that big. I was well over my 10 meg limit and got lots of bounce messages. Not sure if I can help with files that big.
I've tried everything I could think of (even downloaded..err..bought web publisher 2000) but no go. Ask the person who sent them to you to export them as a .html file instead.
Thanks for trying, Cody. It's pouring rain out here today and the cruise was cancelled anyway, so I no longer need the information. I appreciate all the responses, thanks.:TU: :bglasses:
