I have located a nice GS350, Harvest Gold, brown vinyl, brown interior with auto console, buckets, matching SP motor, non posi, A/C, Rear defrost, PS, PB, Tilt. I had Sloan document it. No surprises other than it was originally a column shift and bench seat. Conversion was obviously done with the correct pieces, down to the steering column. Paint has lacquer checking, might be original, but it's above average overall. Southern car, can' find any rust. Looks very unmolested. I spent 4 summers in a body shop ( and learned that I didn't want to be a body man ) and my first car was a 70 Skylark. Sooo, I have been looking for awhile. Don't want to pull the trigger too fast. $ 14,500 will buy it. Question: I live in Indy, so Bowling Green is a not a bad drive. But I have never attended. Are there decent 70 GS 350's for sales at the Nationals each year ? is it worth the wait ? THANKS GUYS ! PS, was not sure where exactly to post a question like this, so bear with me..
First thing to keep in mind is don't get impatient. Second thing, you are better off buying a car from another Buick guy if you can. Third thing, dealer cars are a crap shoot in my opinion. Fourth thing, cars come up for sale here on the board in the classifieds from time to time. Fifth thing, go back and read the first thing. Buy the nicest car you possibly can. As far as the car you are looking at a paint job will be $4000.00+ Just my .02 Good Luck Mike D.
Even a 4K paint job will open up another can of worms. Just correct screws and rubber kits are $$$ It would be great to see it on a rack with a BRITE flashlight! Look at wiring "repairs" and stuff like that. Just don't jump on the first one that catches your eye! Bill in TR
Not saying the Nats arent worth the trip , I look forward to it every year and it needs all the support we can provide as it has been dwindling, if you can come and have fun
I have no doubt this economy hasn't helped attendance. Will plan to attend in 2014. Im making a decision on the GS later this week. Bill
It's at www.justmusclecars.com, in Ft Myers. Had a pretty thorough inspection done that revealed it's got quite a bit of bondo ( exposed via paint thickness readings ) from a hit in the left rear pass quarter. Paint is checked pretty bad in a lot of areas. Inspector did say it broke the rear wheel loose when he stomped on it at 20mph. Drove, shifted and stopped nice. Photos show it has a matching SP block, correct carb and intake, as well as a '70 UP code TH350 Trans and probably the original 10 bolt rear. 42k showing on the odometer, no doubt it's 142k. I can't see past spending 10k now that I've seen the inspection, although it is basically unmolested and complete. I hate to pass, but needs quite a bit.... Anyone else out there have a ' 70 GS350 collecting dust ? Bill
