Look at it this way. If he is going into the Army he'll be out of town for a couple of years. :TU:

The really sad part of this is the perpetrator, if he is who you think he is, is trying to shirk the blame for hitting your Toyata in the first place. What's his family's values that he's being taught? Always look for a scapegoat? And now he's 18 and he is still interested in retaliation for what he did in the first place?!?!? Sad, sad sad sad!!! But it's going on all around ustoday.

If there is a bright spot in this, maybe you can get a new gas tank without having to do it yourself. I helped my son with his 93 Regal's gas tank and that will never happen again!!!

Well, here is the latest update and it's fairly pathetic at this point. If you recall I mentioned that when I called the police out to the house the officer looked right down into the filler neck and saw the sugar. There was still some on the outside lip. There was no doubt as to what she saw and put into her report. She did not take any pictures and to be honest how could she take any decent ones anyway? Regardless it seems that the insurance adjuster went to the dealer, looked into the filler neck and couldn't see any. The dealer had pushed it out onto the lot and has a sign on the dash that says "Do Not Drive". When the adjuster talked to the service manager he stated that they wiped out what they found. Remember this thing took a ride on a flatbed tow truck and the sugar that was visible in the neck was not wet but dry so most of it probably got jarred loose and fell down into the tank. Anyway since the adjuster can't see the sugar and has no real proof (won't even take the officer's word) she has a sample of the gas taken from one of the fuel rails and sends it off to a lab for confirmation. A week has gone buy so far and I've got a rental car lined up.
Now from the legal side. The detective spoke to the kid my son works with who supposedly heard that the kid in question shot off his mouth and sure enough the kid told the same story to him also. The detective then called my wife and told her about the conversation. Seems that the kid in question was not alone that night and that he and his buddies are a "really bad group" and have been trouble since they were youngsters according to the detective. He said that once the gas test was confirmed he would start dragging these kids in one by one. The detective is anxious because he hasn't been able to nail these kids on anything solid but now he has something to work with. I have not told my son that the detective called. becasuse I don't want him to tell one of his friends and cause the word to get out. I see the little low life in question driving around town (small town) and I'm sure he has no idea as to what is about to happen to him. To him he probably thinks he got away with another one.
He probably thinks that he pulled a fast one on another kid but he screwed with MY car and ol' dad is gonna have the last laugh.
