The new Hot Rod makes mention of a terminal you wire into the battery for anything needing a constant power source. They mention MSD boxes and stereos. I have my amp wired to the + terminal in a hokey way, and want to clean it up when I put the MSD box on next week. Anybody know what terminal they are referring to and where I'd get one? Thanks gang.
Hey Yard, I use one of these, mounted to the firewall since my battery is in the trunk. I don't think its what your looking for, but maybe it'll work?o No: http://www.madelectrical.com/catalog/cn-1.shtml
Yes Jeff, that is EXACTLY what I'm looking for! Jeez, I don't know if they'd just ship one of those, so I'll take a picture of it to NAPA today and see if they can hook me up. Excellent!
Hey Yard, thought it might be, but I wasn't sure. I don't know if NAPA would have one or not?o No: But Mark Hamilton (from MAD Enterprises) definately does, for $5 (plus shipping). MANY more COOL stuff for your electrical needs, so proceed with CAUTION (for your VISA card sake!) before looking thru the rest of the catalog and tech articles!! http://www.madelectrical.com/catalog.shtml
NAPA was clueless. This is a new NAPA I must go to now due to the job change I made. The old NAPA was really on top of their game. I have tried calling MAD 3X but get a busy signal. I'll keep trying. Thanks again!
Jeff - I'm sure you'd prefer a new one (me too), but if you don't find one locally - you can always get one of those off a late model car or truck at the junk yard. My '90 C1500 has one...pretty sure my T-Type has one also. My Riv has a more rugged looking one.
Well, MAD's manufacturer has gone belly up, so they have contracted to make their own. However they have no ETA on a final part. After March probably. It took me a solid hour of hunting to find one but I finally got it at www.ss396.com for $10. However when placing the order their page got all funny on me and ended up charging me twice for 2 of them. So now I have a spare that someone can have if they want it.
I'll tell you what... I just called them and Tony was most helpful and curteous. He will cancel one order so I only get billed and receive one block. Some Buick vendors could learn from the Chevy guys. I will look over ss396.com and see what they have that can carry over to Rivs. I need a new license plate light cover...
hey yard they also make a terminal to replace the bolt of a side post battery with a extra post to connect power to the amp if you can always use a fuse near the battery to protect from damage going from battery to accesory terminal you are adding
