I should have at least one pair of AU rods. I will search my Q-Jet parts and let you know.

Thanks for the responses. I would like to buy the one pair of AU's if you find them, and another if you have a second pair. I know the CK's and others are similar, but this guy wants AU's.

Let me know price including shipping to zip 54986, Winneconne, Wisconsin when you determine how many you have.

    Thanks.

    Jim Jones,

The guy that want these has two '70 Gran Sports--he says one's a GSX. Both engines were done a few weeks ago so he's almost ready for the carbs I restored for him. I'll post pictures of the cars when I get some from him. He lives in Redgranite, Wisconsin.

Here's a few pics of the finished carbs (except for the correct AU metering rods).

The CK's are pretty much the same as the AU's (according to Doug Roe's book). Should be able to swap them in.

I'm sure CK's would work fine, they are identical in all dimensions, but the owner wants the correct AU rods. Got any AU's to sell or trade for CD or BF rods?

I'll trade a new '70 Buick Stage I Walker brand carb rebuild kit for each pair of AU rods you can find--or cash.

Jim, If you're anything like me, you often think of how you could have kept those rare cars you once had. My "Used to be" list of old Pontiacs makes me wonder how I ever moved myself to sell them---my ex-wife was the motivator. When I sold one of my favorites, a '62 Grand Prix with all factory options including factory air, 8 lug wheels, electric antenna, Autronic Eye headlight dimmer, factory HO exhaust manifolds, and Tripower, her comment nearly caused her early demise. As the buyer drove out of the driveway, she said "I don't know why you sold it, I'll just find something else to complain about!"

    Richard.

They cross my mind frequently, and then I think of the others that I refused to buy because of the price. In the late 1980s I had the opportunity to buy a Shadow Gray 1970 SS454 Chevelle convertible. It was a extremely low milage (23,000), original owner, LS-5 4-spd car loaded with options, and was just beautiful. I declined to buy the car because, in my opinion, no chevelle was worth $8900. Oh well...! We are all more clever after the fact.

I have not delved much into Pontiacs, but I saw a car at a show here in Columbus a few years ago that I would kill to own. A 1961 389 tri-power 4-spd. Ventura. It was black and silver outside, black gray and white inside. Bucket seat car with factory tach on dash by the driver's side A-pillar. Owner said the car was not for sale at any price. That car, I swear, was the automotive equivilent of Viagra.

Any way, I have only been able to find one set of AU secondary rods. PM sent.

Hey cousin Jimmy, glad to see you came out of hibernation and are posting!

We need to meet up over at Trails for a Test and Tune this season. My Ventura is just sitting in the garage waiting for some warm weather so we can go racing.

Winter is staying with us WAY too long this year. It was spitting snow last night when I came home from the Pub. Deb took me out for a few adult beverages since it was my birthday....I'm moving pretty slow this morning!......LOL.....Cliff

    Oh yeah! Happy day Cliff.

Meeting at Trails is a tremendous idea, it has been a while since I have raced anything. So don't laugh at my 1.5 second reaction times.

Next time I go up to see your folks I'll stop by to chew the fat. You may have recovered from your hangover by then.

    Jim.

Sounds great! I haven't been to Trails in several years, but it used to be a great track for finding good traction.

I have to shut down at 1000', since they have a zero tolerance policy for running under the roll bar rule of 11.49.

We can still have some fun, my car is as ready as I am for Winter to be over with!......Cliff

PS: I stayed with Makers Mark, so not much of a hang-over. I've grown quite fond of it in recent years.....

    Richard.

Good news. I have found a second pair of "AU" secondary rods. I knew I had them, it was just a matter of tracking them down. Deal will be same as before, PM sent.
