If you are talking about the air/fuel mixture adj. tool for a Q-Jet,I bought one a few years back from my local NAPA store. The tool was made by Lysle? and has a reversible socket for the two different adjusting screw heads. You should be able to still source that,I believe. If you can't find it around your area you can try Northern Auto Parts on a web search, they carry a lot of J or special tools that most don't bother stocking.Good luck finding what you need.
For me, it's a bit easier to count the turns, and doesnt slip off easy, but a screwdriver and patience does the job fine too, also when im, tuning the engine, if it's hot, it avoids touching manifold and stuff
It works great, your local auto parts store should have the carb adjusting tool. I works great on my rochester carbs because of the flexible shaft.
1. Flexible shaft gets your hands away from the bottom of the carb; permits access when the mixture needles or fast idle screw are inconveniently located. 2. Plenty of carbs don't use slotted needles; and this tool accomodates several of the "odd" tooling requirements--Male hex, female hex, double-D, and straight slot--if I remember correctly.
Napa doesn't sell the proper adjusting tool that you guys are referring to. To make sure I'm looking for the right one what I need has to be slotted like a small screwdriver with a sleeve over it. All Napa sells is different socket head which really serve no purpose as they don't fit. Is the Lesle 55250 what I need? Am I looking for the wrong tool??
This is the one I have. Made by KD. It has a reversable bit- one side is an allen for the points, the other is a flat screwdriver end. And it has a sleeve that slides over the tip. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KD-Tools-Distributor-Carburetor-Adjusting-Tool-130_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem19b0ae730bQQitemZ110338405131QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools
