put the cam lobe on the valve that you are adjusting on the base circle of the cam and a and use a feeler gauge to set the valve lash . i like to adjust the valves with the motor at operating temp and i adjust them to 0.25 . mike

    Steve,
I like to use this procedure. It lets you adjust 4 valves at a time. Adjust the pushrod so that it is obviously loose(you can move it up and down). Then eliminate the clearance to 0 lash, then 1/4-1/2 turn more, and you are done.

If, when adjusting them, you slowly lengthen the pushrod just until the wiggle is out and then go another 1/3 or so turn, you'll have the proper lash for a 455.

I run these and that's what I did and have had no problems. Just don't overtighten the nuts when locking them down. You can break them. Ask me, I did it. I do have some extras if you should do the same. Just PM me.

Did the outer ring fly off the center section, or did the balancer bolt loosen? TA Performance makes a nice reproduction balancer. Any other damage done?
