I had my engine cleaned up and the heads were decked but now I (not knowing alot about engine work) was going to get a push rod length checker from comp cams but realizing that the rocker arms are non ajustable, I am wondering what buick guys do when this happend do you just take into account how much the heads have been decked and order new push rods do you check the length and get new ones or just go stock length and accept the extra valve movement. What should I do to get the best results?

theres available adjustable pushrod for measuring rod length in unadjustable valvetrain, set the adj,rod for the valve geometry you want measure it and order your customs..

ps, dont forget to set lifter preload

Usually the machine shop you used will let you borrow a "pushrod length checking tool" First, use a straight edge and lay it across the valve stem tips to make sure there all near the same height (within a few thosanths) if they are, then intsall the tool, then your rockers and shafts, lengthen the tool until you have Zero lash (you may have to do this a few times to get the feel of it) After Zero lash is found, tighten the jamb nut and your done. Take the tool back to your machine shop, they will measure it, and THEY will add the 30 or 40 thousanths to the length of the tool. What you'll have then are the correct length pushrods with proper preload. Its good you realize this has to be done, especially with heads that have been cut, and an aftermarket cam that has more lift and a smaller base circle, these are 2 items that will require that the pushrod length be checked.
