I ordered a set from Ames Performance that they had listed for 70-78 cars and they are not correct. They are too big to fit in the factory brackets.

Does are anybody know where I can buy the correct rubber bushings for the brackets that bolt to the frame for a 1 1/8 bar.
    Thanks

You need the brkts and bushings. Go to Autozone and get them. You can NOT use your stock brackets with bigger bushings.

But the ones I am replacing have the factory brackets? I thought I could just get the replacement ones for a certain year car?

    Thanks

You need a set of brackets AND bushings for a 1 1/8 inch sway bar.
No such thing as a "thin" set of bushings to go into the factory brackets.
If I'm not mistaken, 1 1/8 inch sway bar was used on camaro and firebird. T/A and Z-28 used 1 1/4.
Sorry I cant be more spacific, but that's just going from memmory.
    Good luck!

    Not to be a pain

but I am trying to replace these rubber bushings. The rubber bushings have a number 5587 on them. I check 78-79 Trans Am and they were to thick to fit in without cutting some of the rubber.

If I can not find the correct rubber ones I guess I will have to go the after market route.

    Heres a pic.
