    $245 for the pump

    2 hours labor @ $70/hr

    +$400 for a fuel pump?

The cheapest I've found a fuel pump for this is $189.99 at Pep Boys.

    $200 for a FUEL PUMP????

I'm in shock. I just put an electric intank pump in my Riv out of an 86 Ranger and it was $40.

What did MOPAR specify when they designed this pump?

    yeesh!

Oh, and not to mention the $450 we spent on it last week for tires and an oil change.

That's a cool grand in a week that we hadn't planned on.

    ouch.

  3. The 2 hours labor seems high to me. I would think that would be a 1hr job. Just speculating though...

Along this same line, on my 89 F150 4x4, both gas tank sending units have failed, and they would cost $300 each, installed, to replace them. Yeah, right! I just watch the miles on the trip meter and reset it each time I fill up.

Thanks David. Yeah, the MOPAR store I called told me their specs call for a 1 hr job. But the repair garage said that the 2 hrs included diagnostics to find the problem in the first place. (I told them it was the fuel pump when it was towed there last night, because I heard it really whining the last 2 weeks - but they have to diagnose it.)

Still, that is a lot of coin for a fuel pump. My obsolete 34 year old 69 Riv stock replacement pump is only $50.

    yeesh.
