I got this carb with a bunch of parts. Looks like an Edelbrock, but would like to know CFM etc. #s on lower left base are 97735 0952. Also has the # 8852 on the top. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Fred

Does look like an Edelbrock. It's either the 1409 or 1410 based on the "marine fuel pump vent" at the air horn.

    1409
EDELBROCK MARINE SERIES 600 CFM, ELECTRIC CHOKE CARBURETORS
    CALIBRATED FOR PERFORMANCE
Designed and calibrated for optimum marine performance in small-block V8 engines with a variety of manifolds that include Edelbrock Performer, Performer RPM, RPM Air-Gap, Torker II and other brands of similar design. Also ideal for Chevy 4.3L V6 engines with a Performer manifold (see Manifolds) and Calibration Kit #1485. Comes with: Metering Jets - Primary .098, Secondary .101; Metering Rods - .068 x .047; Step-Up Spring - orange (5" Hg).

    1410
EDELBROCK MARINE SERIES 750 CFM, ELECTRIC CHOKE CARBURETORS
    CALIBRATED FOR PERFORMANCE
Designed and calibrated for optimum marine performance in small-block and big-block V8 engines with Performer RPM, RPM Air-Gap and Torker II manifolds and with Performer manifolds on large cubic-inch engines. Comes with: Metering Jets - Primary .113, Secondary .107; Metering Rods - .071 x .047; Step-Up Spring - orange (5" Hg).

Does that black finish look factory applied? that could support the marine use as a corrosion preventitive.

Factory finish is gold. That black finish is also the reason there's no e-brock tag on the carb. Someone wanted it to match their motor and black looks better than gold on most motors. Plus it may be an anti-corrosive paint to help prevent issues that the person ran into in the past.

Guess it wasn't on an olds motor then

The carbs on my father in laws boat are black, thats why i asked. I thought I could see a little bit over overspray in the photo but couldn't tell for sure.

We had a generic 1407 on an Olds 350 and I kept toying with the idea of going with the marine version to match better

I think just about all the boat motors and carbs I've seen are black. I remember there was a specific paint that everyone swore by, but I can't for the life of me recall what it was. Last time I heard it mentioned was when someone complained because they had a gallon can of the stuff tip over and spill in the trunk of their car :Dou:

Have we finally found the final fix to rusting trunks? Marine corrosion prevenitive, i think we're on to something here.....:Brow:

Around here the hot new thing is using the bedliner stuff underneath the car and in the wheelwells to prevent rust. Good luck trying to remove any bolts though after that stuff goes on. I'm going to use the spray on kind in the trunk after I get the holes fixed just so that I don't have to worry about any issues later on. I never liked carpet in the trunks and bare trunks let my cargo go flying.
