How to re-calibrate a speedometer I have an article that describes how to recalibrate speedometers that I copied from a magazine a few years ago. I have been trying to copy and post it all day and it has too many bytes and won't work. Even my computer genius son can't figure out how to do it. I would like to share this information I have. Can somebody please explain how to scan and post these images?o No:
Have you already scanned the pic and do you need it resized? If that's the case, send the pic to the email address in my signature. If you're having trouble scanning it, I'm kind of new to scanning pics as well and can't really help you out there....sorry...
We've scanned it.......resized it.........made it black& white......cropped it..........changed file extensions........it just won't work. When my son gets home later tonight, I'll ask him to email it to you. My email won't send large files. I'd much rather learn how to do it than take the easy way out. I hope someone will read this and explain how......:Brow:
Do you know what file type your scanner software is creating? Best type is to make a jpg file. Even though it is just "text" that you are scanning, it isn't a text file that is created, it is an image file, and you can tell the software what type to create, usually.
It scanned as a tif, and my son changed it to a jpg, but it was still too big. When we made it smaller, you can't read the text. I know this can be done, but what are we doing wrong?o No:
I don't understand......I know this must be an elementary question, but........what is the difference between all those extensions? ( pdf gif jpg png txt zip bmp jpeg xls doc msg) I can't figure out how to scan something and make it have a gif extension. My son is confused here also.
Brett- I know when I'm licked. We made them gif, but they were also too large to post. My son will email the files to you. If you can get them to work, just post them under a new topic for me please. Thanks in advance!:bglasses:
Ina 67, Mail the scans to my e-address and I'll post them on this board, just like in the topic about the 66 Riviera. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34854 Mail to: riviera001@wanadoo.nl
If you can't get it going, let me know. I can convert it to a PDF (Portable Document Format) and host it on my web site, so the size will not matter. That or I can print it out, post the photos and have MS Office convert the text in the photo to normal text which will not take up any space..... PM me if you need a hand. Mike
Did you just rename it to a .jpg extension, or did you open it up and save it as a .jpg? Just renaming it won't have any effect on the file size.
Now if I could only change the title of this thread so the article could get noticed - the "edit reply" won't let me do it.
