I just bought back my old car and feel good that it is back home. I am now taking time to look for parts and ran into a few questions. Some of the questions have rather obvious answers but I just want to make sure.

    1. Will the fiberglass fenders and hood for a 2dr HT work on a 72 2 door sedan?
    2. The 72 2 door sedan had wing glasses and I want to run fiberglass doors for the HT will it work?
    3. What is the weight difference between the HT and the 2 door post?
    4. Who makes aluminum bumper brakets for the Skylark? Are they strong enough for the steel bumper?
    5. Is there a difference wheel base length between the HT and the Sedan?
    6. Is there any quality books avalible on the BBB (455)?
    7. What size cowl is needed with a single plane w/ holley on a 455?

Any help will be greatly appreciated :TU:

Don't know about the body stuff, but I run a SP1 single plane intake with a Holley 950HP and with a drop base 3" air cleaner, it fits under the hood, by about 1/4".

And if you want advice on building up an engine, you couldn't find a nicer bunch of people than right here. Most here would agree that there are a number of things that are tried-and-true modifications to a 455 that will definitely wake up the engine and make it perform. You would just need to tailor certain things based on the intended use of the car.

Shipping weight of a 2 dr coupe was 3436 lbs. and a 2 dr hardtop was 3442 lbs.The doors are completely different with the coupe having a frame around the door glass. I'm not sure if the roof line is the same. You may only need to purchase roof rail seals and attach them to the roof to seal the glass as it rolls up to the roof. The hood and fenders should interchange. Wheelbase was the same. Anyone else ?

    Thanks y'all.

Are the doors the same on the HT on 70-72? If so I will get an old door and try it out to see if the fiberglass doors will fit.

    Thanks again,

I have a 70 post car that someday I will run.The doors are different because the post part on the upper frame but one day while I was messing around,I put a hardtop doorskin up to it.It will go on the door except where the mirror on the hardtop panel would be mounted,it would be hit by the wing window when it was rolled out.Otherwise same dimensions.I dont think it is as easy to put a hardtop door on it since the channel where the upper seal is,has a metal flange up there.Duane told me that it can be done.I don't know anyone who makes post car doors in fiberglass. If you want to shave weight off, why not use VFN glass bumpers? I got a set of 70's for about 280 with shipping. There is also a vendor that sells 71-72 fronts also.

My idea is to have a car that looks stock (sleeper) and I like the chrome bumpers. I know that the doors would not look stock but most people think my car is a hardtop (the posts have chrome trim) because they are not familar with the car. When I see painted bumpers I always think that they have to be glass and it takes away from the sleeper apperance. Don't get me wrong they don't look bad but it just does not look stock. I may change my mind ............do you have any pics?

    Thanks,

Where would one acquire the fiberglass hood with ram air, and the front fiberglass fenders for a 72 Skylark? How much do they cost not painted of course?

Try :www.wsracingfiberglass.com They sell some nice stuff as Ihear and are reasonable
    70-72 pin on hood 200
    " " bolt on 300
    72 front bumper 140
    " rear " 140
    in on decklid 130
doors (probably hardtop) 400 each I'd give them a call to see for sure
    440-998-6341
A word to the wise about VFN though,I bought their 70 front and rear bumpers and the quality was excellent, but was dissappointed that there are no flanges to bolt in the front marker lights or taillights to.I have been told that these are on the WS bumpers.I have heard that the WS stuff is very good too.As for the US Body source,I have seen some non Buick pieces and they aren't the greatest fit.And expensive too.
