Am a newbie here so have lots to learn. Am trying to find out a little about the tranny I got with my 64 slylark. It is a 4-speed says T-10 stamped into its aluminum housing, division of W.G. The spline where the clutch goes has 9 sections to it about 3/16 wide. I have heard of different T-10's Muncie, borg Warner, etc. Just wondering what I got here. Thanks

Yes, found some basic info, guess I have an early model T-10. Found another thread here with some pretty good detail about it. What I didn't find was how this model rates compared to later model T-10, the input spline is a 10 tooth I think its called. I understand that some of the later models have a 22 tooth spline? And maybe have different gear ratios. Thanks

Single groove on the 10 spline input shaft and 16 spline output shaft signifies it as a wide ratio unit used '61-'65.
There should be a code stamped on the machined surface next to the side cover.... that will be the date code.

Thanks so much, another piece of the puzzle. I think this car is all factory correct.

There might be a VIN number stamped on the trans too.... Look on the top side of the trans either at the back of the main case, or on the spacer/bearing support between the main case and tailshaft.
