I am going to be swaping a 71 350 in place for the 231 V6 in my 84 Cutlass.

The 350 will have it's points distributor.

So here's my question, I know that if you swap HEI into a points car that you have to by pass the resistor wire to get a full 12V to the coil, but what about the opposite? for now I have to use the points, how do I get the 12V resisted down to is it 7V? for points.

Thanks any help would be appreciated!

Go to the local parts store and buy a Moper ballast resistor. Wire it in. Simple stuff. I had to do that in my former 77 Chevy truck when I put in a 71 inline six.

Hey, any paticular car/year? I was thinking about just asking the parts store for a ballast resistor for a 70 dodge dart with a 318, this should be fine right?
