My 72 is called "Gerri Loo" It got named after my father in law, Gerry, because he was the one that found it and suggested I go look at it. I wasn't really looking for a Buick, I wanted a Chevelle I was so happy we went to look at it.... Of course I look at my car as female so I had to change the spelling
My wife is a car naming junkie. Here's some of what she's come up with : Wee Beastie - Ford Tempo (cause it was such a nasty car) Boot - Subaru Legacy Wagon (after the Emergency Tv show dog... supposedly dependable) Fridge - Nissan Altima (cause it was like an appliance with no personality) Little Sir - Nissan Sentra SE-R (SER, get it?) Sky - Chrysler minivan (color of car) Mini Me - Dodge minivan (same color as Chrysler, but a smaller short wheelbase van... yes we have two minivans of the same color...) About the only car I named was my old Omni GLH. I called it THE HELL because GLH was supposed to mean "goes like hell"
In the 90s, my son always called to our 82 Regal station wagon the Welfare Wagon. Especially when he was instructing me to drop him a couple of blocks from his school.
My grandparents had a new (to them) '57 Buick Super 2dr Riviera (model 56R) when I was a little kid. They called her "Jezebelle" (this was early/mid 60's time frame)o No: o No:
The only time I use names with my cars is when I'm working on them. I'm sure I don't need to draw a picture. Other than that. The GS is the GS, the Skylark is the brown car, the T-Type is the T-Type, the truck is the truck, the woods truck is the hoopie, and the 99 Regal is the beater.
My '70 GS convertible is "Buford" for 3 reasons. #1, it's a Buick, #2, my last name is Ford, & #3 I'm from McNairy county TN, home of Buford Pusser, the sheriff made famous in the Walking Tall movies.
My 65 skylark GS is ''The Deadwood Stage'' and no it aint a stage, it has a nailhead... just a name I picked out for a car as a kid.... the other ones that I like and have seen in the past,,, Old crow....Raunchy .... Frito Bandito.... White Trash.... and Preperation H
Deadwood Stage, as in stage coach? Well I just got home with my new girl, and she's definitely girly. Leave it to me to find a Buick with a pink interior.... I'm in love. :beer
Christina. Just a little different than Christine, but mine is WAAAY more trouble! Its not a concorse restoration. Its a Concord restoration. The money flies outta my wallet at twice the speed of sound!
My wife named the car Uma Jean a pet name I had for her when we were going to college in Gainesville. Actually it's a good thing she comes up with the names for our pets and kids otherwise they would be cat 1, cat 2, cat 3, dog, boy and girl. Scott
My GN powered 64 Skylark is called "Morning Wood" :beers2: Every morning when I walk down to the shop to leave for work and I see her....:TU:
My first '55 Buick was "Mergatroid." It was named after one of Red Skelton's imaginary Seagulls - Mergatroid and Heathcliffe. Boy am I dating myself with that one. I'll bet Doc remembers Red (the best comedian ever) and the Gulls!
