I am in need of a very nice set of 70-72 skylark upper peak moldings that is the channel above the doors that hold the upper door weatherstrip. I am ready to install them. thanks in advance
Could you describe what you mean by "upper peak" moulding please. Is this what goes over the channels above the doors, or is this around the windshield or rear window, or the moulding that goes on the fender wells?
Dave--to be more specific I think you need the weatherstrip channel stainless---in total it is 6 pieces (3 on each side) -The long stainless channel that goes along the roof rail -The shorter stainless channel that goes down the A-pillar -The short (approx 2") stainless w/black plastic V shaped piece that one end of the first two pieces slips into...this piece occupies the intersection b/n the A-pillar and the roof rail. Also--get someone to include the black wide-headed phillips screws that go with these mouldings. These parts are on hardtops only---not post coupes. The converts use a stainless A-pillar channel but it is a shorter channel I think.
I don't have any of those (other than the V pieces)on hand....so if someone pops up with some don't hesitate. Ask for the screws and tell them to be careful if they are pulling these off a car---- 1)GM used a bunch of chaulk under the V piece and adjacent to it...to prevent water/wind penetration at this junction 2)There are one or two screws that hold this V piece on that you can forget and when you start pulling and yanking on the roofrail piece, etc you can screw up the Vpiece pretty easily--distort it and stress crack it in the corner...I think the screws can even be covered up with the still-gooey chaulk so they may need to dig around under there and locate the screws. I will check a place here to see what he has but if someone pops up with some then grab them.
My car is a 4-door. I can pop off the a-pillar piece and the corner if that helps. But I'm not sure if the long piece can be cut down to fit. The arch at the back may be different. But I could be wrong. My car is a rag top, so I don't have anything to compare it to. Can anyone chime in on this and let us know. This car is going to the scrapper today, but I'll pull it off in case it can work.
