New to the board and Buicks. I got a 96 Roadmaster recently for my dad, 57K miles, 1 owner, all records, Calif car. It's really nice and clean.

**Are there links to owners pages or general information on what to look out for?**
I'm a little unclear on tranny fluid replacement. It does iindicate it is a long-life fluid.
Also the coolant is Dextron...is Dextron II also compatible?

    thanks all.

    Hey-

Nice looking Roadmaster. They sure run with the LT1 in there! Check out the Impala SS forum. The cars have the same basic mechanicals, so you'll find some great information there.

Your coolant is Dexcool. It's a "long life" coolant, but it really doesn't play that well in your car (or mine either, I have a '96 SS). The biggest problem is it had these mud-like tablets they added at the factory that tends to create a blockage in the heater core. I flushed mine and added Dexcool without the tablets and have been fine so far. A lot of guys simply switched to the old green stuff.

As the engines are reverse cooled, you need to bleed the cooling system after a change. If you search the site above you'll find the method. If you can't find it I can tell you how.

I'm sure you can find topics on tranny fluid changes there too. basically, just drop the pan, replace the filter, and fill 'er up.

    Good luck!
