I went to the Rhinebeck Spring Dustoff this weekend and found this in the car corral Saturday morning, called the owner and had him meet at the car. 1950 Buick Special D46 straight 8 with 3 on the three.
My first car was a 50 w/ 3 speed. There is nothing like that straight 8 distinctive whine! The dual side hinge hood is also cool.:beers2:
Thank you guys Gary I purchased it on saturday and left there till sunday evening, I had to take the GS 350 home and got the Rainier and trailer to take the Nifty Fifty home :3gears:
Beautiful car. I have a '55 Special and I think I might look for an older one myself when I can't find anything else to do to mine. I love those old chrome grills. :beer
Thank you Julian, I have always wanted one of these since I was a kid. Couldn't pass it up for the money, it has just few little things that need to be address, but interior is in great shape, body in good shape and runs like a fine tuned machine. Already had my insurance appraiser come look at it to add to the policy. :TU:
Hey fellow Buick collectors, need a photo of the engine bay for a 48-51 Buick with a 248 straight eight. I would like to start to bring the engine bay back to it's colorful ways.
Today I went to the DMV and got plates for the Nifty 50, I put the new plates on the car and took it for a long cruise. The Nifty 50 ran like a well tuned machine, I was totally overwhelm with how nice the car runs down the road, the lack of power steering makes just little differcult driving without both hands. :TU:
Bring your camera when you come up to Albany June 2, one of our club members will have his 70K mile '49 Buick and I'm sure he'll be glad to let you photograph the engine compartment.:beers2:
I took the Nifty 50 up to a small car show up in the Poughkeepsie area and was the only stock original Classic car there. All day long people coming over to look at the car and to talk about it. :kodak:
