    HI,
I am seeking historical info on my 67 ro23 superstock Belvedere. The farthest back owner I have found is David Weldon from Massachusets. He bought the car from a guy names Scott (no last name) in York Maine in about 1984. He said the car used to run at New England Dragway. It was blue, with a 4 speed. Like all RO23's it is a 2 door hard top with a 426 Hemi and was originally white. This car had the upper body trim removed and the holes filled, and the rear wheel wells were radiused.
I am seeking info from anyone who remembers this car , or has pics or anything at all.

I plan to bring this old warrior back to life!

    Hey Joel,
Be careful not to leave that gem sitting to close to the curb on garbage day:laugh:

What are your plans? restore it to as it left the factory? or as raced if you find out some info on it?

I raced at New England Dragway a few times and I vacationed in York ME too, but I'm too young to have seen that car run. I know an older gent who raced and lives out that way, but he was into fuel cars. I'll see if I can contact him anyway.
Joel, How many Hemis have you got anyway? :puzzled: Seems like you've got alot of Hemi powered projects going. :TU:

Mikey #1 - Garbage day?? We don't have a garbage day because I never throw anything away.:Do No:
Anyway, don't you know what a rotisere restoration looks like?

Mikey #2 - A guy can never have too many Hemis. More fun than a stock portfolio and probably safer too!

I would appreciate any leads or info from your buddy up there, no matter how scant.:TU:

I've seen a car like that

    Joel:

I know I've seen a car like that with those wheel openings. Wish I could remember more about it. I was at the 1967 NHRA Nats in Indy, maybe there?

Thanks for the help so far. Dr Olds, I don't have any of those magazines, can anybody help with that?

Here is a pic of the ugly hood scoop that it picked up somewhere along the way. Does anybody recognize it?

    UPDATE!

I found out through Chrysler Historical that the car was sold new thruought Fred E. Cain, Inc. a dealer in Wilmington MA.

I talked to Fred Cain on the phone today. His Dealership was into racing, they bought the car new to race. It was called the "Hurricain" and was white with a picture of a hurricane cloud blowing the lettering out of it. He says they raced the car all up and down the coast and as far west as Gary Indiana. They raced a lot at Sanford, Maine and Colchester NH. Bobby Cain drove their cars most of the time. It went low 10's on the 7.5" slicks that they were allowed.
They lost most of their records in fire, so he does not have any pics of the car or a record of who it was sold to. He is going to check with family members to try to find a picture.

He also said that they got a new 68 SS Barracuda and sold it to Sox and Martin.

He also said that one of their others cars has been restored and was pictured in a Car Craft magazine article titled " Whn Giants Roamed the Earth" but he didn't know the date of the magazine. Does anyone have that magazine?

    Does anyone remember "the Hurricain"?

Sweet car. It's sad that it had to end up like that, but I'm glad it's at least in the hands of someone that will bring it back.

The Galaxie is a 2 door sedan, 390 auto. Its a pretty solid car, has some rust under the rear quarter window area where moisture and junk collect. The rest of the body is real good and the bumpers and chrome and all that stuff is nice. It needs paint and interior. The car only has a few hundred miles on it since the motor, trans and front end were rebuilt. I bought it about 12 years ago to take the rebuilt motor out and put into my pickup but never got around to it. I took the rear end gears out of it for another project. I have lost interest in it, so if anyone wants it I would sell it for $1500.

    York, ME

Well I was in high school at old York high in 1984. There was only one family that was really into muscle cars in town. In fact it was this family that restored a 70 stage I for about 6 years only to have it completed for the last couple of months on David's senior year. I think that Dave's dad's name maybe Scott or Steve. It has been a few years 17 since I even seen David. I still have some family in the surrounding area, I'll make some phone calls and see if I can find anything out.
