    Hello Everyone,

My name is Jeff Horsman and I live in the North Texas area. Recently purchased a 1971 Buick GS that looks like a gentleman's 1971 Black/Gold GSX.
I think his name is Conley??? The car is very nice and everyone here I have met so far loves the car. The car came from the New Jersey area. Any way my hobbys are buying/selling,restoring,cruising,showing, and drag racing all types of muscle cars. Became recently fascinated with Greg Gessler's success in F.A.S.T drag racing series that I want to participate with the hopes of having similiar success. Hopefully with his help and wisdom. At this time I have a list of parts that I am slowly collecting to help pursue that dream. Wanting to keep my original numbers matching drivetrain intact so I don't decrease the value of my car. If everything goes my way I can participate in the 2005 racing series. :3gears:

Does anyone know of a good machine shop in the North Texas area who could build my 455 short block? My heads, intake and exhaust manifolds will be sent to Greg Gessler for his magic touch. Also looking for a great transmission rebuilder and someone who could build me 12 Bolt rear end. I have all the cores.

    Glad to be here,
    Jeff Horsman :beer

Welcome! Gotta love the black GSX, odds are it belonged to someone here at one time. Don't forget to post us some pics in the Members Rides forum. Try HERE for your engine build, he'll get you going real fast and he's a regular here also. Your gonna have LOTS of fun!! :3gears:

Selecting a GS like that to start with tells me you've done your homework.

Jeff Horsman the Turqueman. I like the sound of it already.

Can you run a 12 bolt in F.A.S.T.? I was under the impression the car had to be stock appearing which a 12 bolt isn't unless maybe it was built in Canada. Anyway, why would you need a 12 bolt if you're running on the old slippery tires of the 70s? Lots of people here are running slicks and ten bolt rear ends. Just wondering why you think that's important to do right away before you break something.

    Thanks for the welcome guys!
Glad to have this resource available.

In response ChinaMikeM to your 12 bolt question. I know Greg Gessler is running a 12 bolt in his car so I assumed it would be ok for me also. The reason I want the 12 bolt instead of the 10 bolt rearend, I feel it is cheap insurance because occasionally I might install some sticky slicks on my car.

Again thanks for the welcome and I will post some pictures of my car soon.
(Hopefully I can figure out how to post them :Comp: )

Welcome Jeff! Congrats are your buick purchase, im sure you will like it here at V8buick. And talking about insurance, a clone is a good purchase if you're looking for cheap insurance, like Mike said, looks like your homework was done. Once again, welcome! :beer
