So, us guys at the shop heard about an old Buick sitting in a barn that we should go see. A few months down the road and we finally make it over there and wow! All original 1958 Buick Limited 4dr HT. Sweet looking car. 364 V8 just waiting to move the ol'Buick once again. Just brought her to the shop this weekend and we are hopeing to find enough time to get it back on the road and enjoy before winter! Though once winter hits the chrome will be peeled off and get a nice new coat chrome. Paint looks salvageable for the time being. One rear bumper section has rust through which seems to be common on those pieces. Only piece of trim missing is 1 hash mark on the side quarters. All the others are there.
You and Adam (Smartin) will have to have a conversation or two. He has one that looks identical. Oh, start saving now for your chrome bill....
Very nice find, IMO the second nicest model Buick ever, I passed on one over many years ago it was sitting in a barn next to a 62 Lincoln a friend had bought. To many cars at the time - may have to go back and see if its still there - O wait my garage is still full.
"58limited": Please put your name in your signature, we are all here on a friendly first name base :TU: Here's a Belgian (nowadays with a Dutch registration) 1958 Limited sedan in the same colour:
We are the chrome bill! This is going to be the shop car for our chrome plating business. Been a crazy week with our two main guys in the plating room on vacation so not much time to tinker with the Buick yet. Plenty of car club buddies are keeping us motivated to stay on it and get her on the road again.
A chrome shop couldn't ask for a better car than a '58 Buick to represent their business! Welcome!:beer
It looks the same after getting washed, because the outside photos hid the dirt really well. What else can't be seen in the photos is that there is surface rust coming through the paint that needs to be cleaned off. I've been told CLR or vinegar will remove it without harming the paint, so we'll try those. The engine is acting locked up now, even though we turned it over with the starter before buying it (less than a week before trying it agian,) so that's another fun thing to look into.
Getting to the spark plugs on these are not as easy as one would expect! However they are all off and some penetrating oil has been put in to try and free up the pistons. Since it previously turned over we are thinking that some rust in the upper cylinders may have caused the problem.
