I got this Electra grill set, and my old headlight bezels painted black... Hmmm.. It's like seeing is believing: I'm seeing, but I'm not sure I'm believing. I'm gonna leave it on there for a week or so to let it digest a bit.
Here's a combination, sorry for the dark picture, we entered the dark side of the day when the change was made...
I'm a fan of blacked out grilles. I would leave the headlight doors chrome. I blacked out the grilles on my '72 LeSabre & '72 Electra, but took a rag with paint thinner to the very outside edges.
Makes me wonder what 4 square headlights would look like....or maybe one big headlamp piece on each side, like new cars? o No:
i like the shiny headlight buckets with the black grille. if you had black covers overe the parking lights, the black headlight buckets might look beter.
I like the black grill. I don't like the all black headlight bezels. At a distance, it almost looks like their missing from the car. The combination of the bezels blacked out in the middle section and shiny on the outer part looks good to me.
You got to love photoshop.. ha ha ha.. That last one I like, cause then you have someting that's truly yours, something in the hot rod dircetion.. Well, in a about six months I would probably have found the other electra grills, and I've already got a spare bumper to cut. I think it would be a challenge to do something like that for me, never tried something like that, we'll see. I'm dead from working at this party last night, so I think I'll start off with changing to the 7 blade fan and the little metal cable support for the intake manifold I've also got, then we'll go into the styling department again this weekend, unless it's Vegas on the horizon :Brow: . Thanks a lot guys for the help with figuring this one out :beer
How can we engineer a way to have the center of the bumper go up and down, to look like a huge mouth opening and closing? Just the thing to turn on while following slow cars down the road....
