Hello everyone my name is Nick and I live in the great capital city of Nevada (Carson City NOT Las Vegas). I recently purchased from an original owner a 1972 Buick Riviera. First year to run on regular gas baby! Oh yeah that helps! So far I've had new 2 1/2" flomaster exhaust pipes and mufflers up to the headers and new chrome tips put on, new radiator, alternator and that's about it. The trunk still has the original cardboard lining and the engine has the original frigidaire air compressor and interior has the original and FUNCTIONAL AM radio. The old guy I bought it from kept it in absolute immaculate condition. One of those church driver cars only 116K on the entire car. Engine and trans rebuilt 3K miles ago with all original parts. Matching #'s and no clicks, clanks or rattles (which I hope is a good thing). I am looking into possibly getting a new intake manifold and carb...any recommendations? Also, any idea for headers? I would like to torque this baby out but keep it as "original" as possible. I realize it's ALOT of car to torque out and get moving but I have faith in everybody on this website for help. I am a 20 year old college student and have limited $$$ so I hope I can just add little parts here and there and make this car a real nice cruising beast. Any reply's would be much appreciated!

The 800 Q jet you have is all you need. If you think it is getting tired have it rebuilt.

Some cheaper alternative bangs for the buck:

    x pipe

    recurve the distributor

From another newbie :) WELCOME NICK :beer.

I also advice you to leave the car in original condition. I know how hard it is to find missing original parts for an old Buick.

.............. if anyone knows a 67 Lesabre 4-door Hardtop which is going to be parted out???????

Wow, thanks for all the replies guys! I had 2 1/2" flomaster exhaust put on along with mufflers all the way up to the headers. Is 2 1/2" sufficient? I didn't want to make it much bigger than that as the stock exhaust might have been made that wide for a specific reason and I didn't want to run into any potential horsepower/vacuum problems in my exhaust! What upgrades would you guys recommend? I don't really want to chop or cut anything but maybe add a few new and improved parts or replace the old stuff but keep the old stuff in case I ever want to sell it as stock. Can't sell it as stock when the buyer sees a 3" SP1 manifold now can I? Also, is it best just to reply to a thread once you guys write back or just post a new one? Per your question about Hot August Nights "nailheadina", yes I have gone to Hot August Nights every year since I moved to Carson. However, last year I found it to be a little disappointing. Nothing but damn Mustangs and Corvettes! Everyone and their uncle seemed to have one. One out of ever 3 cars there was either a Corvette or Mustang. My friend and I are also big Trans Am watchers and only saw ONE 1968 Firebird. We searched the Atlantis and Hilton Hotels. Anyway, thanks for the replies guys and I'll talk to you all later.
