Hello! I'm writing from this beautiful country, with lots of sun and excellent beaches and gastronomy, but very poor in american cars. Recently i've bought a 65 wildcat with the legendary 401 nailhead. it'a a complete restoration project. The car is in really bad shape (body). The engine works and hs only 50.000km. pictures soon... i'm still waiting to pick the car because it's far away from me. ah, it's a 2dr hardtop coupe, possbly the only one in Portugal. i hope i can get help in this forum to give the proper restoration work that the car desearves. regards, Diogo
Ehhhhh paaaa.....welcome aboard from southern California....was in Portugal in October my parents are from Azores....
Welcome from USA! Wildcats are great cars. Let me know if you need anything, I have parts! Here is my project - lots of assembly required.
Love Port wine - just served some 1980 Gould Campbell VP on an "open that bottle" night. Spent my 40th in Porto touring several of the Sogrape lodges (Ferreira, Offley, and Sandeman) in Vila Nova de Gaia. Welcome! I'm guessing finding parts will not be easy for you.
Thanks for the reception! Azores are very beautiful islands that i haven't the oportunity to visit yet. Oporto is the second major city, just behind Lisbon. It's a very old city, very beautiful. The Porto wine is definetely one of our treasures. About the Wildcat, its almost impossible to find specific parts here! But it's relatively easy to order online from the states. In the past i had a 67 Mercury Cougar a i've ordered several parts for the car in known american parts dealer. I apreciatte your offer, SpecialWagon65, and soon the restoration project advances, i let you know what i need for the car. Mechanicaly the car works and run because the previous owner times to times put the engine running and also, the car has a low mileage. In Portugal gasoline is very expensive, so the american cars that exist here all of them have low mileage., The of the caeis the rust. It needs a total body restoration. There is one thing i must order from USA....... the buick rally wheels....... i think they give a tremendous sport look to the car. I will put some pictures soon.
65 Wildcat 2dr HT, that's a great choice . Welcome! As to the Rally or Road Wheels: I just picked up a nice set I bought from ebay.com. It takes a little time and search until you find some decent ones. And I'm still waiting for the center caps which cost me as much as the whole set of rims. Good Luck!
