What is the part number on the left front molding for a 70-72 Skylark GS?

FYI- You want a 71-72 "scalloped" wheel trim. 70 is different.

Mine is a 72, correct me if I'm wrong, 70-72 look the same when viewed from the side view, only difference being viewed from underneath and eather will work with the hole spacing the same?

I agree with Jason, You don't want to use the 70 Non scalloped ones on your car. They changed them too scalloped style for a reason and you should buy the later version ones that are scalloped for your 72 AL.

Anyone have a picture showing the difference?

That later('71-'72) style followed the scallops on the inner lip of the fender. Not a problem on the 14" (or narrow) tires, but the G60's & wide 15" tires would drag on the wheel opening trim when turning(especially when entering/exiting an uneven parking lot or driveway) both appear identical unless viewed from inside the wheel well.

Thanks for the follow-up. Anyone have a NOS 71-72 left front for sale?

I believe the "scalloped" wheel trim was introduced in mid 70's.

Good used ones aren't hard to find. Especially fronts. The rears are the ones that get beat into oblivion.

My thinking is, that if you plan to show the car, then you should just get a nice used one and have it polished. You will probably want it polished anyways. Just make sure it has no extra holes. Less $, more shine!

    Al,
I would bet, if you asked really really nicely, that Adam might be able to find you a nice original and buff it to the point it looks perfect.

He did that for me for my 69 car.

Al, Buy a used set in good condition and have them professionally restored to better than NOS.

Thanks for the follow-up but even the ones I found needed repairs that not make a good fit. I figured someone would have offered me one for sale by now. I can't even find a good core to restore.

I’ll look through mine to see if there is a really nice one. Most of my stash has been picked through pretty well, though.

What many folks don't realize is that the front wheel opening moldings are flash chrome plated, and need to be stripped before they can be polished. One extra step of fun before I can make them shiny.

Are they really supposed to be a chrome like finish? Thry never seemed to be thst shiny out of the wrapper
