    Guys,

Thanks for all the responses and the warm welcome, I told Tom that he couldn't go wrong in becoming a "Buick Man" and that he couldn't meet a nicer group of guys and gals than those he would meet here.

I'm getting all teary-eyed here on the other side of the country .:ball: :ball: :ball: :ball:

If Tom's eta is 1/16 he's going to beat me. :blast: I don't even have a pick up date yet after 2 weeks of placing the order. I sure glad that Mike has a spare storage space. He's been very patient as have I with the shipping company. Apparently all good things come to those who wait. If that's the case I'm in for something REALLY good! :bglasses:
I'm looking forward to comparing notes.
    Cheers

It may be you and I in the race than Harvey! With all the cold weather we have had so far this year, Scott hasn't been able to work on the car (can't blame him, I wouldn't either), so it may be closer to the end of January than the middle of January.

Who did you use to ship the car? I sure hope you got a "special" deal! You didn't talk them down so low on the price that they don't want to pick it up did you?????

I got quotes from several firms. None of which could give me any reasonable pick up date because of the holidays, weather, blah, blah, blah... So I chose BT Auto Transport. They advertise on CCTOL and guartantee if not delivered in 21 days its free. That and the fact that they were competitive in their pricing factored in my decision. It is now 2 weeks today from the order and nothing scheduled yet. I even offered a $300 bonus if the car was picked up by today cause Mike is going back to China tomorrow. Still no luck. :Do No: So here it sit and wait. Apparently there isn't a great demand for cars travelling East to West on the northern routes. Yes, I'm not even asking for the car to be delivered to Canada. I'm going to pick it up in Sumas so they don't have to cross the border! I've been very nice about the situation so far. I believe that you can accomplish more by being cooperative and understanding. However, that strategy doesn't seem to be working so I might have to resort to being angry and threatening if something doesn't happen soon. For example, hold them to their guarantee! Stay tuned for further developments.
    Cheers

PS Tom, the car you bought looks really straight and in great shape! Looks like a keeper! Congratulations.

I'm still waiting on mine to be picked up as well, but they told me the car should be delivered by 1/16. The date they gave me was a "not to exceed" and they're still saying that it's a good date. Once the car is picked up it should be a direct run up to the NE.

I agree with your strategy, you get more with sugar... holding them to their guarantee isn't being a bad guy, remember they offered your just reminding them that they lost!

    69GS400s ...my own amusement ride!

i used Dependable to get my Wife's wagon from Phoenix to Long Island

Was here 4 days earlier than they quoted.....3 days total time....under a week from time of contracting. That is basically because Phoenix and NJ/NY are their depots

Nice feature is you can track your cars progress....kinda like FedEx

Well I had a long "talk" with the transport company today. I was insisting on enclosed transport so I changed to a top load open carrier. I'm also trying to get it shipped to a larger community in Washington and have offered a bonus for quick pick up. So I have to wait and see what happens. I didn't think it was worthwhile to switch companies at this point in time.

I know what it's like to wait, so I can understand your decision. The car should be ok on the top. Keep us informed.

Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed on my shipping. The car is on the truck somewhere between Memphis and Linden NJ. I used DAS who said it would be tracked by GPS and I could pinpoint the location real time on their web site.... they lied. Now they're telling me that the truck it's on doesn't have GPS. If I want to know where it is I have to call every day and hope that the driver called in with a location. The hold time yesterday was 15 min today I gave up after 10. I'm still planning on getting it Friday 1/16.

Hmmmmm.....there seems to be a commonality here. Once they get you hooked the story changes. I'm sure you will still get the car on time. I've heard many good things about DAS. I didn't use them cause they were the most expensive quote I got. Chris P. has generously agreed to take delivery of the car for me. There is more traffic to Seattle than to Sumas so hopefully that will speed up the process.

    SHE'S IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Car arrived one day early! Only one problem..... DAS in Linden NJ doesn't have an enclosed yard and the car was unloaded in the SNOW. OUCH!!!!!

They tell me the car was covered right away so it should be ok. I was going to pick it up tomorrow but decided against it since the roads will be a mess with salt and slush. I'll keep my eye on the weather and hope for a break next week. I'll keep you posted.

    Can't wait!

As I told you in the last report, the car was unloaded in the snow and NJ doesn't have an enclosed yard - OUCH!!!!! They told me it would be covered and they failed to do so. STRIKE 2. I went to see it on 1/16 and it has scratch on the right front fender and wheel trim STICKE 3!!!!!! :jd:

I made a claim on the damage and trying to see what kind of compensation they'll make for not covering it.

I'm going to have the car sent by flatbed to Stage 1 Automotive in Pompton Plains NJ. They specialize in the car and they're not far away. I'm going to have them change the rear to a posi 3.42 and check the heater core & blower while it's there.

Keep you posted on the results.
