drove my car for a week after new paint . went and got new exhaust on the car and tossed the old mufflers in the trunk and i guess went around a corner too fast and the muffler slid and put 2 little dings in the 1/4 panel from the inside out. uggh its all i see when i look at the car now so sure im not the only idiot to do this has anyone made any custom interior walls for their trunk so this wont happen im really thinking about making some panels out of sheet metal and beadrolling a trishield into them
ya thats what i keep telling myself boy would i have been mad if it was one of my kids or my wife that did it if i could only kick my own but :spank:
gotta let your inner idiot out occassionally i guess. the worst part is my buddy i got the car from we had done the same thing w/ a bunch of beer in the trunk in highschool had a 40 bottle indent in the fender. why did i not remember this would happen i was with him at the time, oh ya the beer probably:beers2:
im building a wall down the center of my garage and unplugging the opener to seal off my side of the garage when i get my car back. thats the only way that i can be sure that i wont be in the wife or kids situation!
[ thats the only way that i can be sure that i wont be in the wife or kids situation!
well like i said better that i did it than have 2 kids or a wife buried in the yard haha guess i need to put a few race stickers on now(actually im thinkin of putting on 2 of the broken window lookin stickers)
If the paint is not chipped try Dentwizard if you have one in your area. They can remove most dings without painting.
Actually that's a really good idea. AND since the paint is new, it should be a little more flexable than 1+yr old paint. Talk to the dent wizard guys before they touch it since the paint is pretty fresh still. nate.
has anyone made any custom interior walls for their trunk so this wont happen im really thinking about making some panels out of sheet metal and beadrolling a trishield into them
Maybe quit going around corners too fast with heavy stuff in the trunk would be a much cheaper alternative ou: Bill
unfortunately yes it cracked and i meant the bullet hole stickers not window and yes i know no crap in the trunk but i do think a set of panels on each side with a trishield would look sweet too
You dont need to make a true inner fender- just get some hdpe foam or uhdpe ( ultra-high density poloyethelyne foam ) and cut it to fit your inner wells- the stuff is light, easy to work with and tough as hell. If youre really brave- go Rhino-liner! Robert
i just dont put anythign in my trunk anymore lol...but i use to just have everything in a milk crate and or box and then bungied it secure so this situation wouldnt happen line-x would stiffin it for sure though
I had about 1/4" of Vortex bedliner put into mine. Next step though is to have the upholsterer go to work on it. But for what I have in mind it's gonna cost. I keep all my stuff in one of those tote boxes with the locking lid. That includes the base of the jack, tire iron, etc... mainly because I don't like a lot of stuff all over the place.
Have used small plastic "milk crates" in the trunk on the drivers side. They protect the panel and you can keep all sorts of car items that don't roll around. Larger things are then prevented from sliding around and hitting the panels by the crate and spare tire. If you get lucky, you can even get crates in colors that somewhat match the exterior. :idea2:
