Shane, While I have no info on this thread,I am pleading to you from all of the 73-75 GS owners to make just 2...only 2 items we need for almost all of our cars.. 1 is the front and rear bumper cushion pads that attach to the bumpers and 2 is the 1/4 teardrop trim. I can supply the necessary corners to get a pattern from but someone else will need to help with the other pieces of it. It would be great to see the 1/4 panel trim for about 100 bucks a pair as the used ones are priced stupidly on Ebay. Please keep us in mind as 73-75 parts aren't plentiful.
Interchange is 70-2. I believe some 69 versions may be the same but can not confirm that. I do know 68 is different.
Hi George, lazy question here, but, is all 455 & 350 A/C from the condensor to the engine the same, 70-76? I suppose A-body varied significantly.
I scanned the parts book. My impression is that 70-72 share part numbers and 68-69 share part numbers. But 68-69 have differences from 70-72. Just an impression that needs further verification. (Group 9 parts)
Jim is right. The 68-69 A-body has a stand alone muffler behind the battery with a short hose to the condensor. Some 68-69 guys are using the 70-72 hoses with the inline muffler as they're easier to come by and gives a cleaner look.
Thanks for the clarification on the 68-9 items. In late 73 GM went to the VIR set-up (Valves in Receiver) which basically combined the expansion valve and POA valve, drier into one set-up....a manufacturing and assembly cost savings design. So......70-2 are the lines to make since those cars are the most common. The high pressure line is easy to make since it is basically high pressure hose with some crimped on aluminum ends. The low side with the muffler will require more effort.
Looks like we got the information we needed, thanks to all that answered. If anybody has any more info feel free to post it or pm, I will be checking this thread a little longer. Thanks again :TU:
I was under the impression that big block and small block AC lines were different... That said, I would love to have new lines!
I would love a new set of AC lines, that is the only reason why my AC dosent work in my 70 Skylark. Those damn lines are frozen solid and I cant take them out. With a new set I would be cruizing with AC again! :TU:
Depending on cost I'd pony up for a new set of lines. Would probably drop in a new condenser when I do the upgrade. Keep us infomed. regards
I will be doing some AC work on Marco's 70 GS and he would be interested in this. Who sells the correct dryers? AL.
We have already sent the line out to have them made, we will let you goys know when they are available...
Shane, I read your post, what is a "goys" Do you offer a condenser for the 70 GS? Also give me a heads up on the AC line for I would want to relpace the one on Marco's GS, BTW will the line have the muffler on the line? AL.
Corect driers? I also would like to find the correct drier for a 70GS455, mine has the longer version. Bert
Not to hijack, but I have an AC setup from a 70 SBB, Skylark if anyone is interested . . . PM for details
