Can anyone recommend a place to buy a new or reworked Q-jet for my 70 455? I'd like to get one that's 800 to 850 cfm, electric choke and ready to bolt on and run.

    Thanks

Edelbrock 1910... 850 cfm w/ electric choke. I'm not an edelbrock fan but I really like this carb. I did hear that it is going out of production but you can still get all the parts for it and a lot of retailers still have it in stock...

Dan, that's the Q-jet style and not the carter style right? I can't find it listed at jegs or summit, where did you get yours?

ALL the Edelbrock Q-jets are out of production. Summit , AJ USA, and Jegs are SOLD OUT of 1910, but Summit at least had "lots" of some of the other part numbers when I called them about a month ago.

When I couldn't find a "new" 1910, I bought an Edelbrock-remanufactured 1910 (part number 9975?) for $425, and I guess supplies were running low on those, too.

If you want a "new" Q-Jet, buy it NOW, they'll all be gone soon. I've heard the tooling was destroyed.

Edelbrock told me they intend to continue selling service parts, though.

Just a thought here, If you call Norm Dihle in Dearborn MI. and tell him what your combo is he'll build ya one for a pretty fair price. I've gotten a couple Dihle carbs over the years and they allways run great out of the box.
I dont have his phone number but I'm pretty sure he's in the book.
He rebuilds the Q-Jets that poston sells, or at least he used to.

    Good Luck,
    D.

Recarbco also has many 800 original but completely rebuilt Q-jets. I believe they sell for around 174 bucks plus a 40 core charge if not
sending in an old carb and 15 bucks for shipping. I purchased a completely rebuilt one, very nice job also, from them just recently. Looks like a virtually brand new carb

    Would the #1910 be a good replacement for a '72 455 stock motor in a 225?
I can't seem to find an Edelbrock carb. cross reference for Buicks.

Mitch, it would work and may or may not be a good carb. I got one off eBay for $300 and it's real strong. It runs great except that it has a big stumble when getting into the secondaires, I've made some adjustments and it's gotten better but not perfect yet. After that it runs real strong. The guy I bought it from says it can be adjusted out but that it takes time. Of course he was selling it and it's almost new so it kinda makes you wonder.

Also they are almost impossibe to find and if you do they are expensive. The rebuilt version is cheaper but isn't easy to find either. There were several other suggestions posted in this thread. Guys that can rebuild yours or exchange one for yours. That might be the way to go. Good luck
