Wow, alot of great information on this site. So much I signed up. Always had Chevys and Fords, this is my first Buick. Just bought a 65 leSabre last night, drove it to work today and got lots of comliments. I could do without the Dayton wire wheels, but other than that the car is great. A/C works, a must for Texas in August. Engine is a 355 Wildcat.
Bobo: Please put your first name in your signature, we all communicate on a first name base here :TU: And a 335 Wildcat is in fact a 300 CI engine, the number on the air cleaner lid stands for 335 Ft-lb of torque@3000 rpm.
Yeah, And a compression ratio of 11.0:1, the 2 barrel 300 CI blocks had 9.0:1. You're over the 4 K mark now, Jim :TU:
Questions Thanks. I must be retarded (I mean timing wise) to not be pinging like crazy with 11.0-1 compression on 88 octane pump gas, that or the old motor must be loose. The pic here shows a solenoid looking device below the non-original Carter AFB. Is that an idle compensator for the A/C?
Oh, Lord have mercy. Incredible--I like this old Buick even more. Now If I can get the trans to kickdown at WOT then I'll be set for life.
