Hello all, and thank you for supplying this forum for people like me to find out some info.

I hope I have come to the right place, as I need some advice. I have never bought a classic car before (other than a 1970 datson pickup I owned 15 years ago.. but I wouldnt call it classic, more like a junker...)

Anyways, I live in a small town in the US, and have come across what I truely beleive to be a steal for me. My landlord has a 1959 Buick Invicta for sale for $1000. Normally I would not look twice, but this car is in great condition. The interior is imaculate (nicer than my 97 dodge neon) and he claims it has 100,000 miles plus what the odometor says, which would make it 134,000 (will be verified with DMV bfore I buy) The car has 2 spots of rust, nothing to bad, and the stainless and crome are sweet looking. He says the car has been housed in the garage since he bought it in 1963. He drove the car as a sunday driver untill 1982 (Liscence plate confirms this) when he parked it for good. The car has been in a garage since then, never moved. The car is all original that I can tell, down to the radio in the dash. He says the carpet was replaced in 1968. (which still looks beautifull)

As I said, I have never done this before, and am not a mechanic or rich enough to rebuild this car like it should be.

My question is, with people selling cars like this for $8000:

how much would my car be worth if I just wiped the dust off and gave her a full detail?

I will go next door today and take some pics, I need to put batteries in my camera....

    Please help me....im a newbie

    Thank you in advance

PS: I just found out the motor is a "wildcat 445"

Do not try to start or turn over the engine. You will need to pull the oil pan and some other things or take a big risk of damaging the engine.

Sounds like a steal for a grand. Saw a beautiful near-original 59 Invicta in Lakeville MN this summer at a show. MAN that car has some style! And talk about fins... :jd:

i saw one that was rusted out go at an auction last weekend.
sitting forever, rusted into the ground, most of the chrome off. $1200
    nothing to rebuild either.
guy just wanted a few glass pieces and some chrome that was on it and the seats to get redone for one he had.
he stripped it and left the rest
