Hi all, new to the board but not to the Buick GS. I'm the second owner of my 1971 GS 455 convertible. Car has sat for over 10 year and i'm now getting around to doing something with it. Thanks in advance for all inputs.
Thanks Guys, Fred Weisse...Now there a name i have not heard in over 25 years. Was in the Northeast chapter of the GSCA. back in the late '80. Good memories over at John place.
Thanks Guys, Its a work in progress. Car has not been driven in over ten year and yesterday was the first day of some much needed TLC. Parts are starting to roll in and hoping by next month to have it on the streets again. Pulled the gas tank out for a new one, just waiting on the sending unit to come in. Need a guru to rebuild my Q-jet. Tires, brakes, wheel cylinder, master brake cylinder and new fluids all around.
Love a Red 71 convertible!! Looks great! As far as I know 71's got "By Buick" on the deck lid because they didn't have Buick anywhere else on the rear of the car. 70's had a plate in between the tail lights that said "Buick". On 72's it was on the bumper in the center just below the deck lid. There are rare examples (mistakes) where a 71 will have a Buick emblem on the bumper but normally the 71 GS had By Buick under the GS emblem on the deck lid. Just FYI... Here's a 1970... This is a 71 like yours...(this one used to be mine.) And finally, this is a 72, easily identifiable because of the rubber impact strips surrounding the tail lights.
