I have a 53 Super with the stock 322 V8 that I am planning on customizing over the next five years (giving myself some leeway). Plans for the 53 The 53 is going with a mild custom job. The typical lowered to the ground, lake pipes, fender skirts, wide whites. I will be nosing and decking it but keeping the side chrome to divide a black on top and dark purple metal flake on the bottom. The roof is coming off and I will construct a Carson type top for it using purple metal flake vinyl (I used to do custom upholstery work). Inside will be white tuck-and-roll with either purple or chrome welting (beading). The engine will stay mostly stock but I would like to find a 3X2 intake setup and probably an electronic ignition (does anyone know of headers for this year?). I bought the car mainly for something to play around with over the next few years (no rush to finish). Thanks for the compliments, we really enjoy the 56. Don W.
