yea its going to be an auto (bop)th350 4x4 with 700r gearsets if possible

ok what about the 4.1 li block...bigger displacment....but isnt there downsides to this block....overheating issues.....and cracking due to thickness variation within the block casting?

i never heard of the the 4.1 overheat problem. many use the 4.1 in turbo
cars with no problems in 12,11,10 second cars.with 22 plus lbs of
boost. so cant be to bad.if you going to build street it would be just as good as any of the other v6s(225/231of/231ef/252-4.1)
the 4.1 does have a roller fillet crank like turbo cars and a 4 barrel intake
did you already have a 225? you could set that up and if something happens
to that engine you could go to any v6 from there as it will be set already

    no never had a car with a 225...had a 79 231 in a regal...350 in my skylark

i'm just wanting to put a buick engine in my 92 toyota pickup 4x4....the thing is so damn guttless with an i4 w/ 4spd auto..has no low end, nor mid rang...going for 50 to 60mph is a heavy task at hand...like 10secs lol
i like the low end grunt of a 350 but gas milage would suck and no form of cheap fi...pretty much same for the 225...so my last choice is the 231and or the 252

you could get a 4.3 fi from a chevy van/s-10.
the buick v6 is still a good choice .
but not to many fi options that are cheap unless you try
front wheel drive part which you will find to be different
    from the rear driver setups.

what kind of torque number would i see from a 4.1 with just simple bolt-ons...headers, 4bbl intake, smallest camshaft, fi setup from 4.3 motor(which year would be best) and 9.5:1 compression? you think it'll be around 280 lbs of tq?

i could see it make some really good power . 280 is very possible
with v6 cams if you go over 420 lift you will need to cut down
valve guides . any machine shop would understand this .
the 204/214 is really popular the turbo guys. sealed power and edelbrock
have about the same grind cam.
tbi injection from 87-92 would the easyest setup and almost troublefree
if your lucky enuff to find a complete 4.1 engine it should have a 4 barrel intake already.

yea i'm thinking about just buying the engine from hiperformer.com
..btw the stock compression probly is 8.5 to one huh...and whats the highest compression pistion i may get for the 3.8/4.1...somewhere i heard 79 heads have the best flowing characteristics of the 3.8s, but how would that hold againsht the 4.1 heads?

    thanks again :beer

stock compresion in the 3.8 or 4.1 is 8 to 1.most pistons will be in
the 8 and 10 to 1 but custom forged can be order from most shops
im sure you can get 11 to 1 or higher for racing
keep it around 10 to 1 or lower for street for pump gas use.
the 3.8 and 4.1 heads where identical for the years made.
the 8445 casting is what what came on turbo engines 84-87
and most popular and with several companys making aluminum heads
there are some full ported stocker that can be got off the turbo buick boards
cheaper than what it would cost to have them done.
79 to 87 heads have a larger port than earlier models but there are
different castings so get a matching set as some are metric treads
most aluminum intakes fit 79 to 87 heads (rear drive )

    V6 Buick

I had a 85 V6 Buick in a S-10 pickup for many years, it was put in before the
4.3 was offered and I didn't want the heavy V8 Chevy. I was very pleased with traveling the roads on the hills of southeastern PA., I also used it off road for work. The Buick engine is a good torque engine. If you want a stock 4.1 4 barrel intake I have one for sale. Like others have wrote, the stock V6 with a small cam and 4 barrel will fit you needs very well.
