Just picked up this little project this weekend. I grew up working on Mopar A bodies so this is a new adventure for me and a fun one to include my kiddos in.

72 Skylark that the PO was cloning into a gsx. Swapped in a 455 from a 71 Electra 400 transmission and 10 bolt posi rear end. They had used it to drag race and so there are a lot of things we have to figure out what is stock, what they added, what the took out (so many random cut wires in this )

The hood is a fiberglass hood which is nice and lite weight but doesn’t have a real latch and the WW fluid nozzles are missing.

They put in dual electric fans but have it wired to a switch - we will have to figure that out.

It was originally an a/c car but all the components are missing. The heater box is just sitting loose under the dash and they even disconnected the hoses from engine to firewall.

Most the gauges don’t work which we will look into. Originally had a front bench seat but now has random buckets (want to get back to the buckets).

lots of misc things to do to it but will be a great fun project. First things we want to do is get it road worthy and then work on it while we drive it. Looking forward to everything we can learn from here !

We stripped out the carpet, padding, sound deadner which was wet and leading to rust in the floor pans.

Removed rear seat and cleaned out A LOT of mouse poop (kids were amazed and grossed out at the same time).
Working on decoding the tag to see what we can learn about it and how it came from the factory.

I've been looking to see if we could find a good chilton/haynes manual for these cars but haven't come across any. Do you guys have any recommendations for good manuals?

Factory chassis manual is best, big book with lots of information and will answer most of your questions while you build. Post up in the parts wanted section and someone might sell you a spare.

Couple more pics. Hoping to be able to hit a couple junkyards soon. Especially would like to find a front seat for it.
Has a nice after market carb but no choke so it’s terribly cold blooded. Need to work on that.
All the ac and heat stuff was removed when we got it. Hopefully we can scrounge some parts for it at some of the junkyards. We did order a manual for it so that should help simplify some of this for us.
The electric fans are wired to a switch which seems odd to me so we will be addressing that.
Just looking forward to digging into it more !
