Evening All, Name is Tim ( TDH62) from RI, and have a 68' Cat Conv, Red/White, 454.5... A beast of a car! Purchased this fall, very good to excellent driver, and doing some clean up on it...will need to post for a few parts tomorrow...The Car is in good shape, and as most of you know, comes with it's own zip code! These Threads are new to me, and I apparently already jumped a parts thread by Accidental "Newbie" Ignorance... I apologize upfront..(Thankfully, I got a little help from a moderator named Dave who gave me a polite "heads up" on the do's and don'ts... thanks Dave) Looking forward to learning and getting to know you guys, and will post pics of her tomorrow as I get some time. and I had a few minutes and looked over some cool pictures of some cool cars ,neat site you guys have.... Thanks and have a good night, Timmy
Welcome to v8buick TIM - '68 Cats are one of my favorites !! Those side marker lights your after were common to all the '68 Buicks, so there should be a good selection availble. . . . enjoy that Cat. :TU:
Hey Tim, great pics - just so yah knows, your new/old '68 Cat has '68 Electra Grill inserts, but it's still a great looking car ! :beer Possibly a previous owner, for reasons unknown, may have changed them, and couldn't find proper Wildcat grill inserts in good condition ? o No: In '68 the LeSabre, Wildcat and Electra grill inserts were all different, but interchangeable. :TU:
Welcome to the site from MA. Your car looks great! It'a miracle it has a good top, it's just about unheard of to buy a 'vert with a really nice top. Was that done in RI, or did you buy it like that?
Hey Rivman, Well, like I said... learning everyday! I just sent the grills out to be redone too!....one was scarred up a tad, the other had fine stress cracks in the chrome, so after funding that "expense" they'll go back on the old girl for a tad! LOL! Thanks Rivman ... preciatte it!
Hey Mr. Olds, Tops is in really good shape, real glass with no scratches, I gave it a good careful cleaning with some marine canvas cleaner and it spiffied right up.... It came like that, only has one issue with the binder strap on the backside... it's pulling out a bit when you lift the top up, so I'm having it fixed now before it does some damage and is too late....they are cgoing to rebind and secure it, and add a piece on the inside to mate it to to keep it from pulling ... other than that shes good! How far up in Mass are you? tx Timmy
Yeah...it's a nice top, you are fortunate. I'm in Seekonk, mostly...have another house in W. MA (Toytown) on the NH border. It's good to put where you live on your signature. There might be closet Buick fans near you.
Welcome Timmy, Very Nice looking car! Lot of good people here to help and answer all your questions. :beer Ron
Welcome from a fellow Rhode Islander (Pawtucket) now living in Kansas (Wichita) with a 67 'Cat convertible. Yours looks like mine did (on the outside) when I got it (and before the resto shop went all "Wildcat 2.0" on it). Always loved that look - very elegant, and yet, sporty. You're gonna break a lot of necks in "Lil Rhody" from all the attention that car is gonna get! Joe
Thanks Joe, That's a NICE ride you got there... 2.0 works! Gonna have to take it out for 4 all the way and a coffee milk! Stay in touch! best, Timmy
Hey Frank, Not that far away at all, when we get a nice spring day, we'll have to do a mini cruise to Gray's or Evelyn's! I'll organize my info.... thanks for the tip! best, Timmy
